Jenn,

Our prayers are with Mark and his family. It will be a long recovery.

Make sure someone contacts RFC and DRAW. They may be able to help the family.

Why did it take so long for rescue to get to Mark? I read on the racingsouthwest website that it took a over a minute. Is that true?

I'd rather win than drive.

Easily over a minute. Wouldn't be surprised if it was closer to two. The 'rescue crew' appeared to be afraid the car was going to blow up. Tony Lukish was the one who pulled the driver out. Another racer who had the guts and the protective gear to haul Mike out. Tony rode out there on the scooters and it was other racers who brought out the majority of the fire supressants.

The gaurdrail that he he flipped over was the metal type.

Thanks for the link Jenn, I never met Mike even though I've known Tony Lukesh for 20 years! Sure hope he recovers!;)

I hope so too. He's a nice guy. He made the LED dial in board that we have on the Chile car and on several other race cars in the area.

It's always painful to see another racer hurt like that.

That sucks Jenn. I'll keep him and his entire family in my thoughts and prayers.

I also put Mike in the header and he's name is Mark. I know a Mike and a Mark and although Mike needs prayers too...Mark is the one that was in the accident.

Bill Kidd and myself drove up to Phoenix today to spend time with Mark's dad and his family. John (mark's dad) said the doctors are optomistic about Mark's recovery. Basically Mark is burned on about 80% of his body. His head, feet, and groin area are basically the only parts of Mark's body that are not burned. Mark is currently in a induced coma and the doctors expect to keep him in that state for several months. Mark's mom, dad, and sister are currently with him in Phoenix. His parents are making arrangements to get a apartment in Phoenix so they can be there during Mark's recovery. John said he would call with any updates and I will post them on here when he does. Please keep Mark and his family in your prayers.
God Bless you buddy on a speedy recovery!!

For some reason I am unable to view the video.

I don't believe there is any more painful injury then burns. The burned area has to be cleaned every day and it is extremely painful.

May he look to the Creator for the strength he will need to fully recover. He is in my prayers.

I got this from Andra Costa

Mark...is doing very well considering what happened. He has had several surgeries for the burns..they are cleaning them to remove dead tissue and make sure infections do not set in. They have removed his tube and gave him a trach yesterday morning. His vitals, and labs are great. He had 4th degree o his hands and third on his shins and arms and a little burning on the back. They are taking good skin from his upper chest area and growing new skin to graft on the burns later down the road.

My heart goes out to him Jenn. What he is going through, and will continue to go through for some time, is very, very painful. God give him His Grace to get through it all.

Thanks for the update.

That is so sad.....his family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. :(

I won't speak for the Martinez family, but if I was in his condition with 3rd degree burns on 60% of my body.......I couldn't imagine living with that discomfort for the rest of my life!:(
