That was a cool story, wasn't it? Oh sure other teams have FIGS.... but I doubt there's any others who actually have the race car driver and owner flying the plane they're sitting in??? As good a driver as Dougie is.... I guarantee you he's an even better pilot.

It was a good piece. If I was going to work for a team his would be the one. To me Connie is one of if not the last characters in the sport. I hope the NHRA never gets sanitized to the extent other motorsports are.

Not with Connie... Get to the track as late as possible and leave 30 mins after getting out of the car. I have been at Englishtown when Connie and Scott lost first round in TF. Funny cars was not completed and the plane was up and one circle around the track and then gone......... Connie is the Original FIG..

Did you know that Connie once made Air Force One call off an approach and go into holding, with the President onboard? I can't remember where it was - but they closed the airspace so AF1 could land (standard protocol) ....... and here comes Grandpa....LOL..... he was hell bent on landing before the closure.... and I'll be damned if he didn't do it.

No, infact I haven't. But I know several who have. People at Flight Safety and NBAA also speak very highly of him. Doug still flys trips during the week once in a while when they have crew scheduling issues.
