Craig Hoelzel from JFR just called in to the local news room covering the fire and confirmed that it is very close to the shop now. He said he asked Force over the phone what he wanted them to get out of the building, and Coil told him the computer hard drives. So Craig has 25 of them in his car ready to go.
Helicopters are refueling in the property across from Force's right next to the 91. This one is really, really bad.
Its pretty bad. I was just about to leave the house to head into Disneyland to shoot tonight's show and got a call from scheduling that top management at the park has already cancelled the show due to the fires. We pretty much knew the winds were going to cancel us tonight but that decision isn't made until showtime (9:25PM) . this is the first time I have seen the show cancelled so early.
Fire got as close as 1320' to the building (look to the right at the river bed this is where the fire was burning) JFR is located to the right on East Park and Old Canal Google Maps
Steve, you live in OC so you know that the big building on the right is a Home Depot. At least there is a lot of stuff between the river and JFR. TV mention the street that John lives on in its broadcast today but I dont know how close it was to his home.
Yeah the fire was behind the EXPO building which is to the left of the HD as for his home i dont know where his house is located (only that its in the hills near by) The biggest problem with these fires is they are jumping and skipping buildings/homes at random.
Fires are still burning however the winds have calmed a bit as for the fire behind JFR they were dropping water on it about 2 hrs ago trying to save the buildings and I haven't seen any updates since
Steve, I think that smoking baby in your avatar is responsible for starting the fires.
Wow I hope they have an army of people over there to load trucks.......I know Id go help if I still lived in CA. This is just a shame. Its a shame for everyone but Ive never known anyone who at the moment was in this kinda of situation, to know of someone kinda puts a face to the fact. I hope these fires go away really soon. I didnt realize there was a fire in the OC/Riverside area, when did this one start up. Just got off work so havent seen the news yet
To you SoCal folks, stay safe. We are very concerned for all of you there.
Question: Does anyone know how these fires start? Is it arson? Careless smokers tossing butts out of car windows? Lightning? Does anyone ever get arrested and charged? Back here we never seem to get the cause.
