.........yet we have a bunch of metal rods holding together a body up in front of the driver. I don't know why the body disintegrated like it did but seeing the body tree hanging there in front of the driver got me thinking - what if one of those rods impaled a driver?.......
yes. post #37 in this thread i asked what everyone thought about the body tethers. if you reference other previous finish line explosions in recent years, there are many where
the body disintegrates and removes completely from chassis.......JR was certainly hauling a lot of debris.

20:42 ..... different time. same competitive urge to stay in it. same result.

I have read so many negative comments about John's driving from many that have never put their butts in a fuel car (I have for years) there is nothing wrong with John's driving. Many others had problems with the right lane that weekend. in the early years I kicked John out of driving on the west coast area because of his diving, he went to Australia and learned how to drive. Mr.Sweet 16 is my good friend now and one of the best ever, period

AND there is no one else in my observations that has had more close up and personel experience seening that many drivers go down a dragstrip in every track condition there is or ever has been. Also it is very easy for JAFO that has no idea what could possibly be going wrong mechanically or physically that turns the Driver into a Passenger to decide a drivers (espically THE one with the most passes in a F/C and has passed his physical every year) competency. Staying at the Holliday Inn does NOT qualify for expertise.

Same track, same lane. This could have been real messy. ESPN showed a total of 9 replays of this including ending the show with it. I'm glad I didn't have to offer to buy Steve Harker a new race car.

Just curious, if there had been a collision, would you have offered??

I think we would have had a conversation. There's a saying, "That's racing..." But I had Daniel Oliver, who was my clutch guy, driving at his first national event and it was my choice to put him in it, so he was my responsibility. At first Daniel thought driving TA/FC would be easy. But this was a wake-up call for him to have a lot of respect for the car and how fast things can get ugly.

Daniel only ran 8 national events in my car, but in the process he did well. He won two national events (Vegas and Pomona), runner-upped at a third and qualified number one at another.

This is one of my favorite videos when considering important lessons in racing and staying in your own lane. (Language warning).
