Hight/Prock seem to have taken a page from the Pedregon playbook and gotten hot at the right time. Looking back over Hight's season, it was obviously a frustrating one...seven first-round losses and 2 DNQ's. Of course now, people will b!tch that they don't deserve a championship when they were seemingly lost for 7 months. It's tough to argue with that, but I applaud them for figuring it out at the right time.

Robert Hight is running well...but he is not the first funny car to do this at the right time. And w/ 75 employees helping him---he better win!

What's so funny about this thread is even if Robert would not have made it and then every one would be saying the best car didn't have a chance to run for the championship
Man I love this place.:D

No David, I'm not saying that the one extra test session is the catylyst that turned a 4.20 sec FC into a sub 4.10, I believe that Jimmy Prock was trying new things and he might've got himself a little lost. My contention is that NHRA violated the spirit of fair competition by allowing Robert to have a fifth test session but not penalizing him any points for doing it. Rules are rules and everyone is bound by the rules to create a level playing field for ALL teams in competition. Terry Haddock had to forefit the points he earned at the Madison Ill. NHRA event because he drove 2 days each at two IHRA races and another match race in Edmonton which put him over the testing limit. (read the black sidebar)

Dude, first; this is OLD news. Second, it’s not like JFR said, “hey, let’s throw Robert in John’s car and see if we get away with it”. The press release of the new rule from the beginning of the year and the language of the testing rule in the rule book had different verbiage. JFR went to NHRA and asked for clarification of the rule and were told that the testing went with the car and team. No crew members of the 3 car were on the grounds. It was the 7 car testing. Based on the press release of the rule at the beginning of the season I would agree with you, yes he broke the rules, however the rule book isn’t made up of press releases. I’m usually the last person to defend JFR, but they crossed their t’s and dotted their i’s on this one so it’s a moot point. The Indy deal was sketchy, I’ll agree with that, but Cruz had the chance to hold his spot and he didn’t. Cruz put himself in a position to let that happen and that’s all there is to it. How about we all agree the Clowndown $ucks, grab a beer and move on.

As well as Robert had his fate in his own hands all year as Cruz did. They both played tilll the last minute one winner and one loser. It is just amazing how rules can be read different ways depending on who you are.
Whether or not its right kinda late to worry about it now.
