IMO Brittany or Courtney never really looked like they wanted to pursue Drag Racing if you look back at the Driving Force shows. Times have changed though. Ashley always had the fire in her eyes to do it, and I think something has really been missing from NHRA while Ashley has been on the sidelines. Like others, I don't believe she will come back to drive.
My guess is there will be more than 1 announcement at the JFR press conference. 1 will be Traxxas joining their program, 1 will be that they've acquired Dixon, Courtney will formally announce her 2012 FC program and possibly an announcement that Ashley is officially retired, just to bring some sort of closure for her fans perhaps? You've got to give them credit - they continue to grow and announce something exciting each January.
Out of left field, perhaps he will announce that he is a woman trapped in the body of a man, has elected to finally start living full time as a female as a prelude to gender reassignment surgery, and can everyone please refer to him as ' Beverley' from now on?
Who knows? We will all find out on the day. Live your lives, the world still turns...

I think it'll center on Courtney Force's impending F/C debut and possibly sponsorship from Traxxas. I don't think there will be any mention of Larry Dixon joining JFR, or Brittany Force's T/F aspirations, if there are any. And, I really believe there will be zero confirmation/mention about Ashley's retirement, even though I think she's done driving.
If I'm wrong about anything, I hope it's Dixon joining JFR. I don't want to see him sitting this year out.

They will be in testing mode this year. Courtneys' crew will work with the pipe rack. No crew has been assembled yet for Brittanys' car. And LD is not in the plans whatsoever.

Nothing criminal here, there will always be more drivers than seats available. Nature of the beast. For the most part, racing, from the Pros to the lowest sportsmen classes, is a pay to play deal. Having said that, I'm surewe haven't seen the last of LD.
Scelzi is out by choice ... teams were willing to bend over backwards to keep him in a car (private planes to and from the races, etc). Scelzi was just done with the grind and is managing his sons seemingly bright racing futures and helping his brother maintain the family business to the level that they weren't able to with Gary running the circuit.
I am not claimimg to have any Inside Information but Ashley did say in her National Dragster Interview last Month that she is Coming Back in 2013 and looks Forward to racing with her Sister in Funny Car. She said she also wants her Kid to grow up like she Did, at the racetrack with the other" Next Generation 2.0" kids. So I think Neff gets one more year to Play before going back behind the Computer for Good

I talked with Scelzi last weekend, he was in town with his son for the Tulsa Shootout, a monster show for 600cc micro-sprints. I asked him when he was coming back, he said "Never!" Said he's happy racing with his sons, and all of them get a real thrill watching their car come from the back of the field up to the front. Also said his oldest (Dom or Gio?) will be racing a 360 2-barrell sprint car next yr. He looked happy as hell.

I spoke with Gary 2 years ago at Pomona, and he said the only thing he did miss was driving the Race car! Doesn't miss Airports, being gone 3-4 weeks at a time, dealing with sponsors! None of that!

On a recent S#!t Scelzi Says, I believe Gary said both of his sons were track champions at their track in California in their class of sprint car. Awesome.
A good-looking blonde with a famous last name and a huge fan base or a guy in his 40's? That's what a sponsor's going to look at it.
It may sound harsh, and it's NOT meant as a slam against Larry (I like the guy as much as anyone), but companies have to go with the person they deem as more marketable.
