Jerry Bowles Making Strides in 2006

Top Sportsman racer Jerry Bowles from Gadshill, Ontario has made a smooth transition from a nitrous oxide combination to a blown alcohol 481 x Alan Johnson headed Chevy with the help of Darren Mayer and his talented staff at DMPE Inc.

After a weekend at US 131 in Martin, Michigan, where Bowles got the hang of doing burnouts and launching the car, he made a couple full runs and got the hang of mid-six second runs at over 200 mph. Two weekends later Jerry, and his wife Gerri and there sons Jay and Justin decided to load the1941 Willys in the trailer and head to the IHRA race in Grand Bend, Ontario. They unloaded a number 1 qualifying shot of 6.69 @ 208 MPH to lead the field. With consulting help from Mayer they ran consistent with a 6.68, this time at 210 mph. They lost the pole by one hundredth of a second to Gary Mater who ran 6.67 seconds. All in all the team was happy with the consistent effort in qualifying. Bowles stated, “It’s great to have a consultant like Darren providing assistance to our team. He teaches you along the way to better understand how to run a supercharged combination. He definitely has taken a lot of the learning curve out of the equation for us.”

The team entered first round of eliminations just looking to repeat their qualifying numbers. Unfortunately parts breakage stood in the way of that goal and the team wasn’t able to advance.

The Die-Mond Machine 1941 Willys will see limited action in Top Sportsman and Pro Mod quick eight action throughout Southern Ontario during the rest of the 2006. Son Jay explains, “ We do this as a hobby, but we take it real serious. We also run Die-Mond Machine and Tool, which dictates when we can get to the races. So if business allows we race, if there is too much work in the shop, we stay home until it’s complete. We know our limits and have a blast doing so.”

Jerry Bowles thanks the following companies and people for their support. Die-Mond Machine and Tool, DMPE Inc, K&K Racing, Erie Drive –In, Fastpixs.com, Dave Diehl, and the entire Bowles Family.
