I would say that all of the other teams combined dont garner as much attention as Force's 4 cars. Everything Force does it a lot more visible (mainly due to all of the ESPN camera's in his face).

THis is all because he is loved by so many!

John has been brought a few times the past week on the Nascar talk shows on Sirius and more than a few people were dogging him saying what he did just shows what is wrong with racing today. He did have some supporters like Ray Evernham, so it was not all negative. I don't like what he did, but the fact is this is where racing as a whole is at now. I wouldn't be shocked to see some team orders tonight in Richmond.

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned in one of the seemingly millions of posts about this incident, but I bet Morgan Lucas and Melanie Troxel sleep EXTREMELY well at night knowing they raced heads-up when everything was on the line... Unless, of course, they're up all night reading the 'mater and laughing hysterically instead of sleeping!

You know, I'm betting Melanie and TJ aren't sleeping that well these days, with bills to pay, and little income... Two of the nicest people in the sport, largely outside looking in.

You are correct Christopher but, isn't it more important to sleep well at nights than eat?

Are you suggesting that had Morgan thrown the race in Reading Melanie would still be racing?

I agree I'd rather see both of them on the track, and I certainly hope they're not suffering too badly as a result of their lack of work - but I was speaking strictly from a "diving" stand point...

Melanie is still racing ... doing a hell of a job in Roger Burress's second Pro Mod ... Qualified for a VERY tough Pro Mod show at Indy ...

I think what Doc is saying is they sleep well at night because they didn't tank the race at Reading a couple of years ago and have not had to endure the attending hoopla. I don't think he is casting aspersions beyond that.

Actually, my point was a reference to the importance of results to sponsors - landing them, producing results for them, renewing them, and also losing them. Like it or not, sponsorships are results-driven. When you are fully sponsored and continue to satisfy the sponsor year after year where the relationship continues, you just simply eat better than running on your own dime. I don't know why some on here simply can't understand simple business, sponsorship and team principals that supersede the need to win a single round of racing when long term contracts for continued racing is what we all want. Focusing on the dive round when an entire season determines the results is just plain narrow-minded, opportunistic, near-sightedness, in my opinion.

I honestly believe there are a dozen or so of these near-sighted posters who would have gladly said good-by to the AAA sponsorship forever for the sake of one meaningless round win for John. I conversely believe that a thousand others who completely understand it's business, sponsorship and teamwork that secures that very same sponsor. As these threads continue to drone on (my posting included) it's become quite apparent that some just can't get it.

And the ones that don't get it are the ones that think as you do.
I think we all agree that tanking or DELIBERATLY altering the outcome of a race is CHEATING. It is writen in the rule book as such. If for one minute you think it is OK to justify or look the other way while CHEATING because you might loose a sponsor or a sponsor demands that you cheat? Then your morals are twisted.

AAA wasn't going anywhere if Robert didn't take the strip first.

Not a Ped fan. Just a fan of drag racing that doesn't like to see the sport going down the wrong path.

I absolutely get why John dove and I accept it for what it is. That said, I definitely don't like it, but I don't have a solution either. Watch Decade of Thrills when Shirley Muldowney is ticked off because a racer (name is escaping me) doesn't even go to the starting line against Shirley's points chase competition because he has no more motors to use. Then in the next round, he pulls the motor out of his car and puts it in Shirley's competitors car! This isn't new - that's all I'm saying.

Be careful who you point to as an example of acceptance.

I believe that was Marvin Graham with the Denakas TR3 resin glaze car. then the motor went into Lucille Lees Danakas TR3 resin glaze car. Danakas wasn't exactly an upstanding citizen as he was eventually banned from the sport because of some powdery mystery if i recall.
