<P> (9/3/08) Elma, NY With only two races remaining on the'08 IHRA calendar, Mike Janis' chances of winning a third series championship this season are fading fast. While Janis remains in the top five in IHRA points he has yet to claim an Iron man this season. With time ticking away Epping looks to be a make or break event for Mike Janis and his team.

"We're running out of time," said Janis "We came out this season with a new Dan Page built ride and almost immediately had the car figured out. By the second race we were in the fives with a brand new piece. From there it's been a struggle and we're still not sure if we have our gremlins figured out."

Janis' 67 Firebird is a stellar piece in more ways than one. The craftsmanship of Dan Page and his crew at Dan Page Race Cars is exemplary, but the more impressive part of the DPRC built Firebird is that there were virtually no "NEW CAR BLUES". "Our struggles have nothing to do with the chassis of the car. This car responds to what you do and performs well every time. Our problems this year have been electrical, mechanical and self-inflicted. Every race we're able to eliminate some of our troublesome issues and to be honest we still have some electrical gremlins we're working on. They only show up
while making a pass so right now all we can do is bring a lot of spares and hopefully by process of elimination we can find our main issue," said Janis.

The IHRA Amalie Oil North American Nationals will be held at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire from September 5th thru the 7th. Pro Qualifying is scheduled for two sessions on Friday, 2:00 PM & 7:00 PM, with two more on Saturday, 2:00 PM & 7:00 PM. Eliminations are scheduled to begin Sunday at noon.
