Jack Beckman at the 2025 California Hot Rod Reunion

Brings back memories of push starting, I loved too push start it was a two for one fun ride. Jack Beckman is the best at giving story's of drag racing history. My buddy Jack will be doing something for me in February and I could not ask for a better person to do it for me.

I really miss the push starts too, waiting for the bump of the push car, letting the clutch out and flipping the mag switch at 60 pounds, driving off the push bar and wicking the throttle as you turned to line up and stage, where’s my time machine 👍😎

When I first started going to night time drags, the thing I loved was the flames coming out of the engine. Front motor car, do the burn out, crew pushes the car back, watching the flames, just like in the above video. Then watching the flames as the car(s) go down the track. At Lions, I knew who was in each lane, but would lose sight of the cars after half track. Would watch the flames so I could see who was ahead. The flames & the noise was really what I loved about nitro racing, especially the dragsters. My first track was San Fernando Drag Strip, which ran Sun only, day time. And then one Sat night, my dad took us to Lions.....

The post was not about me and I was not trying to take away from it, But you asked for info, It will be at the lions museum for the Hall of fame February 7. I am truly humbled too be honored there and as I was by NHRA in1998 and the International drag racing hall of fame in 2017. I have been blessed by my life in drag racing, not only as a starter but as a racer. that made my life what it is. I wish I could be there personally to thank all of the racers that made my life what it is, but I can't travel far these day's THANK YOU ALL!!!
