When I first started going to night time drags, the thing I loved was the flames coming out of the engine. Front motor car, do the burn out, crew pushes the car back, watching the flames, just like in the above video. Then watching the flames as the car(s) go down the track. At Lions, I knew who was in each lane, but would lose sight of the cars after half track. Would watch the flames so I could see who was ahead. The flames & the noise was really what I loved about nitro racing, especially the dragsters. My first track was San Fernando Drag Strip, which ran Sun only, day time. And then one Sat night, my dad took us to Lions.....
