reading between the lines, IMO i don't think jack is giving up his day job. his employer is working with him to provide the necessary days
off for 20 weekends. i'm sure he is thinking about whatever retirement benefits his career/employer provides, and does not want to jeopardize that.
it's great having him back in the sport for another season.
I was surprised he even had to go back to his day job after his funny car career was over considering he was already in his mid 50’s. Probably doesn’t say much for the pay. Then again, maybe he just likes that job and does it to keep busy.
It’s also nobody’s business, including mine lol.

Zone pay and/or specializing in Jack's Local 18 would put him that high. His retirement and benefits would also be through the union, not necessarily the company you work for. I worked for a handful of companies including Westinghouse when I worked out of Local 18 in L.A. 40 years ago.
You betcha, my all time favorite rear engine AA/FD. It's 1972 and I saw the car 2 times that year, Northwest
National Open, Seattle and I'm 99% sure the picture is the Div 7 race, July 1972. I was there, only time at
Lions. Washington State is more than a couple of hours up the I-5. My big sister, Thank you!
