All projects of any kind involve three elements: people, resources ($), and time. They are all essential, and if you increase or decrease one of them, you effect the others. Want it done faster? Throw more resources or people at it (obviously within limits).
If you consider winning to be "a project", you need those three things. But as the Yankees have frequently found out, even unlimited budgets can't necessarily make this team win this year. Even with a bunch of future hall-of-fame players. A winning team isn't just a group of people, it's a well-oiled, working machine with balanced egos, a sense of camaraderie, and a shared vision of the future.
That's what has made JFR so successful. Great folks, money and parts, the time to get it right, and John's unwavering vision (that he's not shy about sharing). Like him or not, it works.
I give the Sheik and AJ a ton of credit for doing it right, and working to build great teams. I can't see inside, but from the cheap seats it looks like there are few egos, lots of really good folks, and great attitudes. I think Dickie will be a wonderful addition.
For all the folks who just thought Al Anabi was just a blatant attempt to buy a championship, it's great to see them working so methodically to get there. This isn't a team I'd be betting against.
