It will be interesting to see how quickly those who have started the year off bad can get back up in the points. I think Jeff Burton is like 32nd in points over a full race of points out of the top 10, he is in a position where he can't have another bad race between now and the chase or he will have to rely on the # of wins rule for the 11th and 12th spots in the chase.

It's still real early. Jeff Gordon once started out 42nd or 43rd after the first two races and finished second in points to Terry LaBonte for the championship under a real points system. All Burton has to do is get in the top ten or win a race or two and be in the top twenty. Hopefully, that won't be a problem for him.
