I love scanning the archives, sometimes you find some good stuff! 17 years ago on NHRA Today skip to the 18:10 mark where Steve Evans made this announcement.

And it wasn't another 15 minutes after that the 320 mph barrier was broken!

I think Bob Frey summed it up best after Evans' announcement.

I also loved the "They are not gonna run the eighth mile or 1,000 feet."

I wonder what ever happened to that idea then.

Notice something about this, listen to the crowd chair, watch any of the old footage of barriers being broken. The crowds loved it.

Harry Scribner's wild pro stock burnout at 19:50 is worth watching too!

Speaking of burnouts... 13:52 is a good lesson in how to do a funny car burnout.

such a better show back then, with about 8 good years left.....not to be mistaken for goodyears :D
when was the last time you heard a national event crowd cheer as loud as the skuza/force burnout
in this video.....incredible, sure miss the sights & sounds from this era.

I recall saying on a message board (maybe a previous version of Nitromater) that if anyone was going to run 320, it would happen on Sunday morning. I don't think I ever thanked Cory for proving me right. ;)

The Skuza/Force burnouts were great. The run itself, even better.
