Why would any driver that loves to race get out of the driver's seat? I guess if you are Don S and just want to build an empire, that's fine.

This guy talks about the owners not stepping aside and putting younger fresher faced drivers in the cars, how the NHRA hasn't evolved as NASCAR has etc etc.

The answer is quite simple, and it is something that the guy who wrote the article will never understand.....

NASCAR is a BUSINESS.... DRAG RACING, IS A WAY OF LIFE!

Ehhh, I think the idea of solely focusing on the "sex appeal", "flash", or whatever you want to call it can bring in sub-par talent. The budgets in the NHRA aren't even close to the ridiculous budgets of NASCAR. Most of these owners have a good chunk of money, (more than most of us anyway) personally, that they are willing to spend because they love what they are involved in. Because of this, I think owners in the NHRA are above putting just any driver in their car, just because they can bring a sponsor. While the number of competitors and rides in NASCAR is certainly higher, look at the success ratio (wins) in NHRA as compared to NASCAR. I think it shows that the NHRA has a much better eye for talent that makes the winner circle, than does the crap-shoot of NASCAR owners taking a shot at the next big star.
