IHRA cancels some 2026 events (15 Viewers)

Chris, you know for a fact that they arent going to get paid?
No I don’t. Up to this point in time, I had assumed they did get paid. With the comp plus article, we have some facts on the situation. Even if the funds are tied up in the short term he needs to reach out to the racers and let them know whey they will get paid. We now have racers stuck on the sidelines because they are awaiting payment. Daryl told Lex that there wouldn’t be a delay prior to the event and now there is. I’m sorry but if all that is true, he lied to his face.

I do know from another site there are classes which have been paid, verified by the teams. None are nitro as far as I know.
It is a bad situation and it seems the racers are willing to work with him some as it is a place they can race and "afford" it.
I do hope it works out but gut says no at this point, why cancel up and running tracks. The others I can see but not this time.

DC could stop a lot of the BS rumors and come out behind the curtain and explain what's happening and what to expect.
To me he's loosing a lot of credibility by not coming forward.
There is a recent sports illustration that may apply. No league is under more fire now than the WNBA.

Their inept Commissioner was scheduled to be on Dan Patrick's sports talkshow last week. She agreed to the interview, and both her and Patrick's people were at the same celebrity golf event at the same time.

She ghosted him. His staff waited a couple hours. Eventually it was revealed her media people (read: subordinates) didn't think it was a good idea to face hard but polite and tactful questions.

As a result, in addition to incompetent she now looks cowardly. I'm not calling DC either of those things, but Mr. Cuttel could stand to face legitimate questions. Not his subordinates- the man himself.

IHRA Announces cancellation of 2026 Stock Car Series, Focuses on Building for 2027
Fairfield, Ohio — The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) has made the difficult decision not to proceed with the remaining 2026 IHRA Stock Car Series.
This decision was not made lightly. After a thorough review of our operations, resources, and long-term objectives, IHRA believes the responsible course of action is to pause the series and dedicate our full attention to building a stronger, more sustainable Stock Car program for 2027.
Rather than present events that do not meet the standards our competitors, promoters, sponsors, and fans deserve, we believe it is more important to take our time and invest our resources into creating a championship-caliber series that can return with a solid foundation and a clear vision for the future.
“This is about making the right decision for the long-term health of the IHRA Stock Car Series,” said IHRA and not just a couple events in 2026. “Our responsibility is not simply to put races on the schedule, it is to provide a professional, competitive, and well-supported championship. We believe taking this time to reset and build the series properly will allow us to return in 2027 stronger than ever.”
IHRA will spend the coming months working closely with racers, track owners, promoters, and industry partners to develop a long-term plan that strengthens the Stock Car program and positions it for sustained growth.
We sincerely thank our racers, teams, sponsors, officials, track partners, and fans for their continued support and patience during this transition. We look forward to sharing our vision for 2027 in the months ahead as we work to build a stronger future for IHRA Stock Car racing.

The IHRA said that they are continuing the bracket championship races for the year. What proof is there that the money is there to pay the champions?

Slightly off topic, but I remember Ron and Maddie were going to run the triple crown or whatever it was. I noticed they were not at the first event. I know the first event was rescheduled presumably due to weather, but did Ron or Maddie ever address this?

They were focused on Maple Grove because NAPA batteries are manufactured in that area and The NAPA brand is pretty concentrated along that East Coast section. NAPA gave them the green light to promote their brand at that race.

Probably time for the Maple Grove website to take down the info on the no-longer- happening Triple Crown x 2 event! Btw if you click on “buy tickets”, they have gotten rid of the ability to actually buy tix.
