Getting to be lots of chatter that $#!t is getting real in the IHRA world. Cycledrag (I know, I know, take it with a grain of salt) is reporting it's official that the remaining outlaw nitro events are cancelled for starters.
the densham FC is entered in sonoma (tim gibbons), seattle (gary), and BIR (j. campbell).
have always pulled for gary, going back to late 80's when i first saw him.
This sucks but not a surprise. You can’t keep hemorrhaging a million plus at each event and continue to operate. The reason NHRA doesn’t pay that much is they want to remain in existence. Sure they could squeeze the higher ups pockets and put more money into the racers pockets.
What sucks is for the racers who have spent tons of money upgrading their equipment and now have no other option than NHRA.
Also what happens to the tracks that were purchased? Not good for anyone.
One of the questions I had months ago was who held the mortgages on the tracks. Someone here looked it up and said records show that the Korestsky family held the mortgage on Maple Grove. Would they take the track back?
I'd be more concerned if any tracks were purchased through other lenders. There's no guarantee those tracks would not be sold for other purposes.
well it looks like the widely anticipated maple grove race may not happen after all. there was someone on here that posted something
about the likelihood of an ihra maple grove triple crown race was slim to none, and that was a while ago. looking like a pretty good call.

Hmm, could the Koretsky's take that track back? If so, would NHRA bring back an event there (kinda hard to omit that huge market within a 200 mile radius)? And if NHRA brought an event back, would they do so at the expense of one of the newer additions (Michigan, Rockingham, Maryland)? Could be a very interesting situation developing.
Would be a terrible shame for people to get burned financially. Hoping things work out for IHRA and people get paid what they are owed. Failure benefit nobody and all drag racing fans could pay in many ways.
