I have posted up a modified version of the G meter graph that Alan posted up. The two red arrows point to what I believe are external forces which have caused the acceleration curve to drop abnormally. This could be the results of brakes or parachutes. I have extended the original curve with what I believe is the same slope.

Stan,

The first arrow is the driver lifting off the throttle. This was a 3.70 run and that arrow is at 3.9 ish The second could very well be the chutes hitting.

Maybe Alan can get some real numbers from one of the teams for Cd and frontal area of a dragster. This is based on just a WAG. Also remember that the wings create drag and down force. It is easy to see even if HP was not decreasing that the amount of HP needed just to press the car through the air at higher MPH starts to become very large.

MIKE KLOEBER'S NITRO UNIVERSITY - COURSE 2, THE DRAGSTER BODY AND AERODYNAMICS

I'm not sure that gets into the actual numbers but there's a lot if good info there. The entire Nitro University series is extremely informative, imo. It's from a few years ago, 2009 I think. So I'm not sure how much applies and what's changed since then.

I think here is a great example of TF ets and MPH's and how trying to analyze them can drive anyone crazy.

Both have the same 60 ft times.

At 660 ft Richie Crampton is 0.040 second ahead of Brittany Force and 3.65 MPH faster. At 1000 feet he has slows to 284.33 MPH ( -9.33 MPH) and she picks up 39.17 MPH (329.18) and they both run the same et.

Right Lane: Richie Crampton Runs 3.749/284.33, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.272/107.70, Was #14

Crampton with great pass and then slows on the top end, he still goes to the number three spot. Richie Crampton's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.112, 660ft-2.974/293.66 mph.

---------

Right Lane: Brittany Force Runs 3.749/329.18, Now #3; Best prior run: 4.492/172.85, Was #14

Force launched hard and kept it hitting on all eight to go to the number three spot. Brittany Force's incremental times: 60ft-0.837 sec., 330ft-2.137, 660ft-3.014/290.01 mph.
