whoa....big time ouch!

I'm on absolute poker a bit too much......just the play money side. I've lost millions and millions on that dang thing...lol

John, we are lucky around here, the great card house in Elsinore and about 10 indian casinos within a hours drive. They all have live play or different tourneys everyday and night. Barbara played 5 different tourneys one weekend.

Wow, that's a rough one for sure.

My worst beat was in a 5/10 game at The Horseshoe in Bossier City about 10 years ago. I have pocket Q's, raise before the flop, catch one on the flop, and there's all sorts of betting, raising and calling. Then comes runner runner 5's to make me Q's full of 5's. Sure enough some dipstick had called through all of the pre and post flop raises with pocket 5's to beat me with quad 5's on the end. I took a little walk after that one.

Turned out the guy literally couldn't play a lick and was busted within a couple of hours so I ended up getting the best of him but *DAMN* that one hurt!

Man, those hurt bad. My buddy played in the WSOP $2000 No Limit event this year, and he was one of the chip leaders heading into the 2nd day. He was 5th in chips but he was put at the same table as the guy 2nd in chips. About an hour into play he raised with pocket 5's and the other guy reraised him and he called. Flop came 5-3-5. He checked, the other guy raised, he reraised and the guy called. Turn came a 8. He raised, the other guy pushed all in and he called. Turns over his quad 5's, other guy calls and turns over 8-8. And you know what happened next, river comes a 8 and he loses quad 5's to quad 8's. Thats brutal. So much to him, that he's taking a break from poker right now. Said he isint going to play for a whole month. We will see. I think he's secretly playing online!!!

Justin, my wife Barbara, is the player in our family. Got down to 25 players and she goes all in with nothing showing. She got delt a queen 10 and had a queen on the turn BUT the other guy who also went all in was delt a queen ace. Oh well, monday morning 10am tourney at Elsinore.

Those are BRUTAL. They had a show a while back that was all "Bad Beats". At first it was painful to watch. Then it just got boring because you KNEW the bad beat was coming. But it did show me that you can have great cards and play them perfectly and STILL lose. There is that darn thing called "luck" to contend with too!!!

I was playing in the 2-5 NL at Ocean's 11 down in Oceanside, CA and I had pocket 9's. The flop comes 9-9-J. Someone goes all-in in front of me and I of course call with the quad 9's. He turns over pocket J's for Jacks full. The Jack hits the turn so now his 4 J's crush my 4 9's. I wasn't too upset though, as they have a bad beat jackpot and I got $5800 for being on the losing end.

The only other time I have been in a jackpot situation was the $15-30 limit at the Bellagio, I had 8-9 spades in the big blind and there were no raises. The flop came 10-J-Q of spades. I bet and the button raises me, needless to say we cap the betting all the way through the river and he had the A-K of spades for a royal flush, beating my straight flush. No jackpots at the Bellagio, I jost lost a lot of money in that pot.

Ouch and Ouch!!!! Thank God for bad beat pots, eh?;)

I lost 4 aces to a straight flush at Coushatta in LA one night and lost about $400. The worst part was the bad beat pot had been paid out about 2 hours earlier and it was only $40 at the time. I thought I would be getting a couple grand atleast but oh well.

Chris, been to Ocean 11's a couple of times. Not a bad place.:D

Yeah, I have had very good luck there. The action is always good, so if you are patient and pick your spots, you can walk out ahead without much effort.

My only complaint about Cali card rooms ... no free drinks. Apparently, Cali has some law that no matter what, alcohol cannot be given away. So while I am playing in the games at any Cali card room, they are dinging me $3-4 per beer. At least they could give a discount!

Yeh, that no free drinks deal is kinda different. This friday night Elsinore has its ladies tourney and they a free buffet to anyone. Not a bad deal. Barbara hit the ladies deal for $1100 last month on a $50 entry.

Nice. $1100 for $50. I will make that trade anyday! The LA casinos which we have to go to have free drinks but they arent that good really. Ever now and then I will get a free room and buffet. But I dont get to go as much as I would like, there's something to having to drive 3 hours to play cards that doesnt make it worth it at $3 gallon. I will just stick to all the local underground poker rooms and play online. I wish Texas would legalize gambling. I just dont understand, its like they dont even realize how much $$$ they lose to swamp land they call a state next to us.

Hey Chris,

Is there a decent 5/10 Kill Omaha game out there anymore? I played in a pretty smokin' one at Mirage about 5 years ago but haven't found anything decent since. Seems like every one I've sat in since then was full of way-too-tight rocks.... no action. :(

The explosion of Hold Em on TV and the internet has pretty much killed Stud and Omaha. If you do find an Omaha game, chances are you are going to be playing against rocks, probably 7-8 of the players in the game are there everyday as there are so few games to choose from these days.

Yeah, I was kind of afraid of that. If you hear of anything good, please let me know.
