HOUSTON - Josh Hernandez, driver of the AMS-Rage '57 Chevy Outlaw Pro Mod, is anxious to open the season this weekend at the ADRL RacingJunk.com Dragpalooza III in Houston, Texas, hoping for a repeat trip to the finals, with a different outcome, however, than last year’s Dragpalooza. In 2006, Hernandez raced his way to the Pro Extreme finals where he lost to Joey Martin.
"We just need to win one more round this year to make it a perfect event,” Hernandez said. “I feel really confident that this season is going to be better than ever. We've got a handle on the car we debuted last year and the team is making really good progress.
"In pre-season testing, we made a few changes to our car and the blower system, and if things remain consistent, we will be running 3.80's and low '90's. Howard [Moon, crew chief] has such a great grasp on the way these cars run, and he really seems to have fun when we're running the eighth-mile." he said.
Moon said, "Running the eighth is great because it's even quicker than the quarter, you still get a great show of acceleration, and, you don't hurt as many parts.
"I'm really amped up and ready to go," Moon said.
Hernandez added, "Hopefully we're going to put a really good package together and win some more races and a championship. No matter what, it will definitely be a lot of fun. I always love running in Houston, because it's home for me, and I'll have a lot of friends as well as my family there at the race.”
Pro Extreme racing in the ADRL RacingJunk.com Dragpalooza III is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 2 at Houston Raceway Park, and concludes with qualifying scheduled at noon and 2 p.m. and eliminations beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 3.
