Thanks everyone. Unfortunately is has not been a happy time in my household...
I share my birthday with an Aunt, my mom's sister. Her husband passed away September 27th, the day before our birthday.
My wife and I did go to her house on the 28th with some chowder I made and we spent the afternoon with her.
We have been close since I can remember, spending school vacations together skiing in the winter and at a cottage on a lake in the summer. We spent all our holidays together as well and as such became very close over the years.
One of their two son's passed ten years go (who my almost my age) and their younger son married a lady who ended up having severe mental difficulties leaving him with two kids to care for.
So... Yes 50 is fun, but the circumstances this year have been a bit rough.
