Sometime in the early 70's , I was in the pits at New England Dragway.
Don Garlits was laying on his back knocking out the rods and pistons.
I was kneeling about 5 ft. away watching him. Along came Don the Snake,
who was running the Funny Car at the same event. He sat down next to Big and the two of them had a chat about some new cylinder heads for Nitro Motors. It was very cool to listen in on that.
I was at the NHRA autograph session at the Palms here in Vegas last Thursday night and the Snake was still the coolest cat in the room. He has a presence that is hard to describe, but you definitely know he has it.
