On Speed's Barrett-Jackson broadcast - you gotta see this!
Guy is driving an older Cougar - after some talk about love, camera pans over to a "cougar" in the passenger seat . . . NOT a big cat!
Last line "We love older models too!" - hysterical!

Saw that commercial ... LOL'd ... though I am sure before long someone will cry about it.

I find it amusing that they keep saying that the economy is not affecting the collector car ... but Shelbys, Hemis and Yenkos have come back down to the very low 6 figures ... almost affordable LOL!!! Hot Rods and medium cars have held their values and brought correct money but the top appears to been cut off the market ... we will see when the "real" cars roll across in a little while ...

EDIT: Darrell Gwynn is on stage right now with his charity auction car, '70 Plymouth Superbird with an Evernham NASCAR motor driven onstage by the King himself!!!

EDIT 2: $501,000!!! PLUS $175,000 more in donations to the Darrel Gwynn Foundation. When I grow up, I wanna be Ron Pratt.

I've been glued to Barrett Jackson for three days just cussing up a storm !

I lost enough in my 201 K to buy a 70 Hemi Cuda numbers matching and have enough left over for a great party and some gambling !

Got to scrape up enough change for a new Sterio system for the Hot Rod Vette and another set of rear ATT2's to get some road tires on it before I kill my fool self !
Darryll Gwen on right now , what a guy and our loss !

Ron's very private collection is somewhere near us - I'd really like to get in there! We were going shopping last Sunday when Jeannie spotted the (I believe) "Futureliner" that Ron paid over $2,000,000 for several years ago driving down Chandler Blvd. Should have done a U turn and followed it! - :D

And I thought the housing business was down, he seems to be still doing OK.

I got a kick out of John Force trying to ramp up the price of another charity car he drove in a charity match race with Gas Rhonda !
The factory Hot Rod is not streetable because of VIN # and when the Ford Guy told John it couldn't be used to go get a hot dog John replied if we can get $500,000 I'll make it street legal ! LOL
Good effort I think it went for $375,000.

A grade car prices were down but some AAA still commanded a fair price.
I saw some well optioned Cudas and Camaros go for $ 34,000 .

Even some of the C 1- C2 vettes were well off prices a couple years ago.

The fact that an airplane was the only thing to hit a million wasn't good.

I think collectors knew the market would be down so there were not a lot of big showcars there.

Lot of great buys on early muscle cars though.

A collector paid $4.95 million on Saturday for a 1960 Ferrari 250 California Spider at the Gooding & Co. auction in Scottsdale.

1.2 mil for the 29 Ford TriMotor plane. The owner was insinuating he was losing money on the deal. And I thought car restoration was expensive:eek:

I wish I had seen that. My Great Uncle used to fly Ford Tri Motors back in the day. One of the pictures he used to keep out was one the Tri Motors he used to fly. The stories he could tell.

Island airlines in Port Clinton, Ohio used to fly Trimotors, to South Bass and Kellys Island back in the 1970s, on windy days it would fly sideways. Ron Pratt must have an awesome collection, I saw Him pay 5.5 million for Carroll Shelbys "Super Snake" Cobra a few years ago.
