<P> In a stunning reversal of fortune Matt Hagan and crew have won their third national event in the 2008 Knoll Gas Motorsports Nitro Funny Car division. Hagan debuted a new car and dominated the field at last weekend's Sooner Nationals, pulling to within 51 points of points leader Terry Haddock. (1)

The SHELOR.COM TOYOTA SOLARA took the lanes with hagan behind the wheel and a John & Paul Smith tune-up under the hood. It was a winning combination that would net Hagan the #1 qualifying spot and a career best pass at 4.994/306.26, as well as the Ironman title for the event.

"We were amazed with the consistency of the car, especially given the blistering heat," said Hagan. "We went into the event knowing we had to shine at all three of the remaining races and this was a pretty good start!"

Hagan remains optimistic about his championship hopes, but is thrilled with his progress this season regardless of the outcome. When speaking to IHRA reporters after the event he had this to say:

"(The championship) is very obtainable right now," Hagan said. "I set my goals this year to win three races, and this is my third win. Now the goal is to win a championship and I think, with this race car and the Smiths tuning it, it¹s possible."
