Hagan Recovers From Complications At Gators

"We were really shocked by the problems last weekend," explains a solemn Matt Hagan. "On Friday our primary car with the Bickel chassis was all over the place and I couldn't get control of it." After failing to qualify for the Gatornationals, Hagan called in reinforcements in the form of his secondary 1968 TORCO Accelerator Camaro with a Prime Time Race Cars built chassis.

"We brought in the other '68 Camaro with the Prime Time chassis after we didn't qualify. I guess it just wasn't in the cards for us last weekend," laments Hagan. "It's a tough way to start the year, but I'm encouraged by the testing we've been able to do on the Prime Time car. The main thing we're trying to do now is not make excuses but just move on, adapt, and rise
above it."

Hagan and crew stayed on in Gainesville to test the secondary car, which ran a 3.98 eighth mile in preseason testing. "Fresh off the trailer she did a 6.15 at 236 in the quarter, so with some tuning I think we're where we need to be," says Hagan.

"We're running the JanCen engine program, same engine and blower combos as Mike Janis who ran a 5.95 this weekend, so I'm hoping we can match his numbers with the right car underneath us." Hagan and crew will continue to refine the setup on the 1968 TORCO Accelerator Camaro with the Prime Time built chassis in hopes of a strong showing at San Antonio.

Catch Matt Hagan and crew in action this weekend at the IHRA Amalie Oil Texas Nationals at San Antonio Raceway in San Antonio Texas. Pro qualifying begins at Noon on Friday, March 23 and continues at 6:00 PM. Qualifying resumes at Noon on Saturday and eliminations begin on Sunday at 10:30 AM.
