<P>Matt Hagan and crew made an impromptu stop at O'Reilly Raceway Park for last Weekend's Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Indianapolis, Indiana. Surprising everyone, Hagan managed to qualify for an absolutely star-studded field only to be eliminated in the first round by NHRA super star Tony Pedregon.
"We were only 4 one hundredths from making the field at Reading and knew we would have a pretty good shot," said Hagan. "We just wanted an opportunity to get faster and get more passes in with this John & Paul Smith tune-up and the new TOYOTA SOLARA."
Hagan attracted a lot of attention when he managed to break into the field above household name drivers like John Force and Gary Scelzi.
"We were glad to have made the field," remembers Hagan. "The whole weekend we were focused on getting those 5 qualifying passes in but all of a sudden we were in the show!"
Despite the first round elimination the performance at Indy was a shot in the arm to the Hagan race team. "To get into a field that was so heavily contested by so many big names felt almost as good as winning," said Hagan.
Further adding to the crew's momentum was the performance of the SHELOR.COM TOYOTA SOLARA. "The car is absolutely dialed in," says Hagan. "It drives like it is on rails. We're all really looking forward to getting back out on the track in Epping."
Hagan and crew will be back in action on September 5th through 7th at New England Dragway in Epping, NH. They will be battling for a tightly contested points showdown. Hagan is currently 3rd in the standings, 28 points behind Paul Lee in the #2 spot and only 51 points from the leader Terry Haddock.
"Our program has advanced so much so quickly and we're out there looking for what every racer needs, that one great sponsor," said Hagan. "We feel like we have a tremendous amount to offer."
