HAGAN CLIMBS THE POINTS LADDER

Radford, VA--After returning home from an early exit from the Motor City Nationals last weekend at Milan Dragway Matt Hagan was pleased to learn that his efforts so far this season in the Knoll Gas Motorsports Nitro Jam Nitro Funny Car class have earned himsecond place in the points race, just behind Paul Lee who won last week's event.

Hagan qualified fourth in a strong field of cars and dispatched Andy Kelley in the first elimination round to advance. In the second round Hagan met up with Paul Lee.

"I knew I had a strong lead on him but Jay's tune-up was too agressive and we blew the tires off at half track," said Hagan. "I didn't see Lee at that point so I got off the throttle and back on and then the car got way out of whack and crossed the center line. It stinks to get knocked out that way, you're always going wonder what might have been."

Despite the end result of the weekend Hagan was pleased with the performance. "I felt like the SHELOR.COM/TORCO MONTE CARLO was strong, the crew stepped up this weekend again and put a great race car underneath me. We may not have won but it was good enough to help us keep climbing the points ladder."

Matt Hagan and crew will be back in action on June 13-15 at Maryland International Raceway at Budds Creek MD.
