Great show tonight

I think parts of the 'show' have gotten corny. I feel embarassed for the drivers that last night did the boxing thing. I mean, is this necessary to get people to watch? That is when I leave and fold a load of laundry or something. I guess if the majority of the viewing audience likes it, then I will just shut up. But I think it is silly some of the stuff, including the Hannah Montanna thing, and I wish they didn't do some of that. I did think the highlighting of the tattoos on some crew guys was interesting, and showed some different faces for a change.
I guess I don't like the 'show', I just want to see the racing and the camera on all the racers and crew, not just a select few. I know it will never change tho.

I felt the same way. I could imagine them thinking "this is so lame" when they were doing it... Whatever though, maybe its entertaining to the younger fans.

On the Force thing, I personally am sick of it.. all of it, every mention of them I hit the FWD on the DVR.

BUT, when I first started watching the races every chance I could (back in '96) John Force was my favorite driver. I bet at some point he was everyones favorite driver. Liked him and his team when it was John and Tony P and their identical cars.

Don't know when things changed, I think it was when he got the 3 car team together. Now with the 4 cars its sick to me.

I don't know how to balance it, if your a new fan, you'd probably watch because of John Force. But to those who have been around, you've probably had enough.

I guess do what you gotta do to get ratings, I can always DVR and FF through the Force stuff... but twice yesterday they had the side by side windows, one window was the run, and the other window was a John Force interview (the other was one window as a run, and the other window was the Force daughers and their mobile home makeover crap). Therefore you had to sit though the Force shenanegans.

ESPN: please don't overlap coverage of the John Force show and the racing that is going on.

Aside from the JFR documentary, as people have mentioned before, so much they could be doing to make the coverage better. The nostalgia race.. how great was that? I think everyone who saw it was craving more! But we won't see it again the rest of the year I bet. The fans asking questions, get real fans not children who have the questions fed to them.

I gotta say I loved the part where they showed the Cacklefest cars, especially the Jr. Fueler, the Fiat altered (I'm partial to altereds), and the other Chevy dragster.

Justin, in my humble opinion, your post was lame. To say force is the n.h.r.a, is DUMB, and just plain wrong.

On the other hand, with all due respect to you Michael, I want to tell Justin how much I appreciated his willingness, despite being a huge Force fan, to also admit that the scooter thing was overkill. And Justin, thanks for understanding the difference in being tired of the excessive Force coverage and being a "Force Hater". I do appreciate a dedicated Force fan that can make that distinction. Ya done good, buddy. Thanks

I don't want to get into name bashing or NHRA bashing necessarily, but after a couple of very cheesey segements last night, I felt like my kids feel. This is really not racing. I mean, who is writing or coming up with this stuff to think that it is entertaining? It makes me hope that my personal friends an favorites don't have to do this stuff if they go into past round one. I have had non drag racing fans tune in per my request (after it became a 'show') and have almost made fun of some of it. And they don't know anyone.
Well, maybe if someone who is inside this -production- reads these comments there may be a change. It makes me just want to check out DRC and see the round results. I would rather watch the race, but have a hard time with the corny antics. Have some respect for the sport and drivers, please. That is all I ask.

ok well nevermind the show actually sucked and I need to get my head out of MY ass:rolleyes:

so say you, so says Burk............................. ESPN2 broadcast still ignoring the racers

From DRO editor, Jeff Burk:
As is my tradition when not on the road, I tuned in the ESPN2 broadcast of the NHRA national event this week from Seattle. I started with the Sunday half-hour show. The Force family dominated the show AGAIN.

I just wish ESPN would start the shows at their scheduled times. My DVR doesn't know that Pee-Wee baseball went into overtime and they are starting the race late. I guess I should have gotten TiVo! LMAO:p
