Goodguys Cruise into Summit Motorsports Park in 2008; Goodguys Blue Suede Cruise to be Held Weekend After Labor Day

(Norwalk, Oh.) -- Goodguys Rod & Custom Association is sanctioning the Goodguys Blue Suede Cruise at Summit Motorsports Park September 5-7, 2008.

Goodguys is the world’s largest rod & custom association with nearly 70,000 members nationwide. Founded by Gary Meadors in 1983, Goodguys has grown in large part because the events and the association attract a wide range of auto enthusiasts. Most Goodguys events include street rods, customs, classics, trucks, street machines and muscle cars through 1972 vintage.

Goodguys will hold 24 events across the country in 2008. The events range from two-day affairs attended by 30,000 to 40,000 people to three and four day extravaganzas attracting over 100,000 auto enthusiasts.

The inaugural Goodguys event at Summit Motorsports Park will have Goodguys taking over an already successful event, the Blue Suede Cruise, which had grown to one of the largest cruise-in events in Ohio. The 2008 event, billed as the seventh annual “Goodguys Blue Suede Cruise,” will be held the weekend following Labor Day and combines a rod & custom car show with a full scale vintage drag race on the famed Summit Motorsports Park quarter mile drag strip.

"We want to continue the tradition of the Blue Suede Cruise,” said Goodguys president Marc Meadors. “We realize a lot of the participants grew fond of the popular Blue Suede Cruise and its traditions. Our aim is to not only keep the event familiar, but to do as much as we can to enhance it with our resources. Participants and fans can expect a spectacular Goodguys Blue Suede Cruise in 2008 and beyond.”

“Goodguys members come from hundreds of miles away to attend these events,” said Jeff Johnson of Goodguys. “The Goodguys will be very visible. I guarantee you, you’ll see thousands of street rods all over northern Ohio that week!”

“We’re very excited to be associated with a top-notch organization like Goodguys,” said Bill Bader, Jr., president of the Norwalk, Ohio facility. “By taking a successful show like the Blue Suede Cruise and affiliating it with the largest rod and custom organization in the country it becomes even better.”

“We expect the attendance for this event to increase significantly,” continued Bader. “It will be one of the most anticipated events for all 70,000 Goodguys members.”

Participants will be able to register by calling the track at (419) 668-5555 or online at News — Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park.
