Norwalk, OH - Fans attending this fall’s 7th Blue Suede Cruise, September 5-7 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH will have a chance to walk down memory lane on many fronts, giving both spectators and participants an event which features everything a car lover could ever hope for and more.. Event features include a giant rod & custom car show as well as a full scale vintage drag race making it one of the nation’s largest hot rodding events.

Highlighting the drag racing program will be nitro burning Nostalgia Funny Cars and front engined Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragsters which turn in top speeds approaching 250mph!

In the Nostalgia Funny Car division, Justin Grant’s Bloomington, Indiana based “Wonder Wagon” 1973 Plymouth Barracuda Funny Car, Kyle Wurtzel’s remade “Motown Shaker” ’72 Vega and Nick Boninfante’s “US Male” ’77 Ford Mustang II are just some of the popular vintage Funny Car’s that will be in action throughout the weekend. Grant’s Wonder Wagon is an exact replica of Don Schumacher’s Buttera built car that barnstormed the country in 1973 as is Wurtzel’s “Motown Shaker” and Boninfante’s “U.S. Male”. The look and feel of these retro floppers is identical to their originals bringing tears of nitro-fueled nostalgia to those who were around for the real thing nearly 38 years ago. A full field of eight 250mph nitro burning vintage funny cars will participate in the event which also include Steve Nichols’ Mill Road Boys ’70 Camaro, John Dunn’s Dunn & Gone ’69 Nova, Danny Miller’s Rear Gears ’70 Maverick, Greg Jacobsmeyer’s All Star ’70 Dodge Challenger, Shawn Bowen’s Violator ’78 Trans Am.

A full field of Nostalgia Top Fuelers are also readying for Norwalk including Dale Suhr’s potent 5-second “Orange Crate” dragster from Waterloo , Iowa as well as many other fire-breathing entries from all points east and south.

Joining the nitro cars is a full compliment of vintage drag cars from the Nostalgia Pro Comp Association (NPCA), as well as special exhibitions from the Geezer Gasser Group, gear-banging Nostalgia Super Stockers and many more favorites.

“We’re really looking forward to staging our first Goodguys event at Summit Motorsports Park ” said Goodguys President Marc Meadors. “The Bader family has transformed Summit Motorsports Park into one of the premier racing and event facilities in North America . We can’t wait to fill it up with colorful show cars and vintage drag cars. We’re expecting a banner weekend”

Other event attractions include a giant vendor midway, automotive swap meet, cars for sale corral, model car show. The show & shine participants will have their chance on the famed Norwalk dragstrip as well, as both Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings are set aside for dragstrip “Fun Runs” where show participants can take their own car down the strip.

Drag racing legend “Ohio George” Montgomery of Dayton will be honored as the event’s official “Hot Rod Hero.” Winner of a record four NHRA U.S. Nationals A/GAS titles, Montgomery will be on hand all three days to meet and greet as well as sign autographs for fans.

Event hours are 8am to 5pm both Friday and Saturday and 8am to 3pm Sunday. General admission is $20 per day, kids 7-12 $6. A three day weekend pass is $55.
