Well, it looks like we lost the original Joliet thread.

I'll be there Fri- Mon. :D I can't wait.

Hey T? I know you gave us some pointers on which way to go from the airports to miss some of the construction, could you let us know that info again???

Paul, you tree'd me. I was just about to post this again.
My fiance and I will be there Saturday, from the time the gates open till well after the last car goes down the track.
Do we have times for Mater meetings or anything?

Thanks Paul... crowd and the weather is looking good.... you and everyone else going to Joliet needs to stop by and say hello to Dale Creasy and the crew....

Hey, Paul... Where does the line start to become friends? ;) lol
That is pretty cool. I got tickets for the afternoon to go to the Miller Party Deck a few years ago (when it was about 100 degrees). Were great seats, and the shade was wonderful.

Where was the construction problems somebody had mentioned on the old thread?

on I-55 from about Rt 52 to I-80 there is some construction and on I-80 from the Minooka exit to about Larkin Ave i believe there is some construction and expected delays

I 80 westbound at I 55 is under construction. The backups are sometimes 4 or five miles long.
To avoid this going to your motels in Joliet, I suggest you take Laraway Rd., which is the first traffic light north of the track, west from Rt 53 to Brandon Rd. Go north, or right, on Brandon to RT 6. You do stand the risk of catching a train or boat on Brandon Rd. but, IMO, It's worth the risk to avoid the traffic tie ups on I 80.
Take Rt 6 left, or west to Larkin Ave. Turn north, or right, on Larkin to the motels near the I 80 interchange.
To go to the motels at I55 and Rt 30 by the Louis Joliet Mall, continue north on Larkin to RT 30 and go west, left, to the motels.
If you are staying at the I 80 and Houbolt/Empress Rd exit, stay on RT 6 westbound to Empress Rd and turn right to I 80.

If you are coming from the north on I 55, I strongly suggest you take I 355 south to I 80. Go west on I 80 to RT 53, then south to the track.

I hope this helps. If anyone needs any other help with directions, or recommendations for restaurants or anything else, either post it here or PM me.

How would you recommend coming down from Milwaukee Area... Last year it took 3:45 min there, 2:15 back on Friday... We'll be leaving Milwaukee about noon on Friday???

Thanks!

I would suggest taking I-94 south to I-294. Get off south on I-55 to I-355 then south to I-80. Take I-80 west to RT 53, about 5 miles.

Keep in mind that 294 and 355 are toll roads, but, IMO, are well worth it.

if you don't mind the toll roads you can take I-294 to I-88 to I-355 cause I-55 outbound from the city really sucks after about 2:00

and if there is traffic on I-80 you can get off at Briggs Rd, head south and then take a right on Laraway and take that to Chicago St/RT 53to get to the racetrack
