What's your opinion on the Gatornationals actually taking place in June?
will the Governor of Florida allow groups over 10 by then?

yes it will be held, and yes the gov. will allow it ...... IMO 6 weeks into this pandemic (which is very real), the media, politics, and reallity are becoming foggy.

Would very much like to say yes but I cannot see gatherings of thousands of people happening in any state that had a lot of cases until late summer/early fall then only if there are no significant new out breaks.occurring.

Even if we're allowed to get on with life, how different will it be? I went to Costco yesterday, wore my mask, & most of the people in line also had masks. We're getting used to this. If I went to the drags in June, I'd be nervous that the folks around me could have the virus & not know it. Same w/ going to the movies, or ballpark or what have you. I would be happy if races start again & allow people to watch on line, or pay per view or like that. Would be strange to race with empty stands, but a lot safer for racers & crews. I would HATE not being able to go the the track, but....

Perhaps with no spectators, but I think large spectator events are some time away.
I think the most likely scenario for getting things 'back to normal' is with small scale, local relaxation of restrictions (President Trump said as much the other day and it's what other countries around the world who reached their peak a few weeks back are discussing). An event that brings people from across the country with tens of thousands of people in close proximity is not high on the agenda to make happen.

Let me tell you guys something, there's no-freakin' way the Gators will run in June, in fact I think that there won't be any mass gatherings until this shit is over, could be next year before everything ramps up.
Sad, but I think you are correct.

Maybe without any fans, but NHRA relies on fans for $$, so I wouldn't be shocked to see the NHRA throw in the towel. Until we can get enough testing, it's going to be hard to imagine any spectator events. Sports like NASCAR, Golf, and MLB can have their events without fans because of the TV $ they get. NHRA pays for their TV, so I don't see how they will race without fans.

I doubt it, but even if they do, it's TFH in Gainesville in the summer & they won't draw flies. :(

Sadly, no I don’t think so. Again I say, once MLB, NHL, NBA, NFL call their seasons off - I believe everything else will follow. Even the no spectator idea can’t work; because it takes a lot more than two car drivers for a race to happen. You’re talking hotels, airplanes, airports, etc. For Gods sake I hope I’m very wrong.

Can't imagine NHRA or most fans will be comfortable in a big gathering by early June. The "make-up" dates for the Gators in late September seem more doable. While major sports teams may call off the 2019-2020 seasons that were already started, can't imagine NBA/NHL/NFL throwing in the towel on seasons not yet started, but instead delaying the start. Or starting with empty stands. NBA and NFL can survive for a while with empty stands as they have good TV contracts. NHRA needs people in the stands so I can't see NHRA starting the season with empty stands. Personally, I hope the Gators are delayed until late September as I can't see myself shoulder to shoulder in the stands or on a plane in early June.

I live in Florida and the numbers are still going in the wrong direction as of today.
So even it they decided for some crazy reason to have the race in June it does not mean fans and spectators or racers will show up!
We all love drag racing but not enough to get the Corona Virus!
If it takes another month then so be it.

Ya know, Arizona might be open to running some events here. Maybe Vegas too. In the summer, were are Too Hot To Live, but very little humidity. Vegas kinda like that as well. Maybe the possibility of running no spectator races??? reason I'm saying this is that Gov Ducey is open to baseball playing games here w/o spectators. We have the ball field downtown (Chase Field) plus a bunch of spring training ball parks (that normally bring in a lot of tourist $$$). I dunno, just thinking out loud. Bader has guts saying he is gonna open. Maybe he will be the one that leads other tracks to re-open. Can you picture even an ET race, starting line crew all in masks, spectators sitting 10' away from each other, also in masks.......

On the bright side if you run a race here in July you would not have to worry about social distancing since nobody would show up......ah who am I kidding, us nitro junkies would stand on the surface of the sun for a nitro fix at this point.

Constitutional rights aside, there's still stay at home orders all over. I have 2 friends that reported police cars following them when they were out driving. One was followed all the way to the NJ/PA border and the cop turned off when my friend went over the bridge. Chased out of NJ.......usually people are happy to leave there 🤪
