Anyone that saw ESPN 3 knows Worsham had his buddy Grant Downing build him a new rigid funny car chassis for Alexis. What does "rigid chassis" mean and how different is it compared to the traditionals?

Rigid chassis generally have less flex. Some chassis have gone so far as to "wind up" so much that when they "straighten" out they can unload the rear tire. Think sprint car vs cup car.

Rigid would be a non slip joint car. The vertical rails are welded solid to the top and bottom rails rather then welded to a sleve over the top and bottom rail that would allow movement.

Interesting strategy - from what little I know, it appears to me that this will put Del totally on his own making tuning calls. It is a good time to try something very different - three races to go this year and no Countdown pressure.

This isn't new, rigid chassis were how they used to be, the slip tube chassis came later. Infact John Force was one of the last to go to a slip tube.

Agreed there were a few good series of articles that comp plus started around that same time that were ended after only a few issues. I was disapointed as I enjoyed reading them.

I don't think it even formally ended. I remembered those articles right away since they were posted and I remember that it kinda seemed like the next article never came.
