FULLER FINISHES FOURTH TWICE FRIDAY AT DALLAS

ENNIS, Texas (Sept. 20, 2007) – Rod Fuller raced his David Powers-owned HOLT CAT dragster to the fourth quickest pass of each qualifying session Friday at Texas Motorplex. The five-time NHRA Top Fuel winner carded a 4.552-second elapsed time to earn the provisional No. 4 qualifying position.

Fuller, who enters the third race in the Countdown to Four ranked second in the NHRA Top Fuel standings, used the quickest run in the left lane on Friday’s opening session to place his Caterpillar rail fourth in the order following the first of four scheduled qualifying attempts. The five-time NHRA Top Fuel winner blistered the scorching Texas Motorplex quarter mile in 4.622 seconds at 319.66 mph in his Rob Flynn-tuned HOLT CAT dragster. The Las Vegas racer then improved when he carded a pass of 4.552 at 324.83 on Friday’s second pass to remain fourth in the 16-car order.

“It was a great qualifying day,” Fuller said. “To make back-to-back runs in the No. 4 spot is great. We were conservative today. We’re big-picture racing and if you didn’t get in, the chance of getting in on Saturday wouldn’t be good. We weren’t trying to hit a home run. We were going after a solid line-drive double. The car was on a better run than it showed. We lost a belt and it dropped a few cylinders. Our goal on Saturday is to make two consistent, solid runs and get ready for race day.”

Top Fuel qualifying resumes with sessions scheduled for Noon and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22. ESPN2 will televise 90 minutes of qualifying highlights from the O’Reilly Fall Nationals beginning at 12:30 a.m. (ET) on Sept. 23.
