POINTS-LEADER FULLER FINISHES FOURTH FRIDAY AT BRISTOL

BRISTOL, Tenn. (July 6, 2007) – Rod Fuller raced to the fourth quickest pass on Friday at Bristol Dragway with a run of 4.592-seconds. The POWERade points leader placed himself in position to continue his streak of qualifying fourth or better at each race this season, something only Pro Stock’s Greg Anderson and Pro Stock Motorcycle’s Angelle Sampey have accomplished.

Entering the 12th race on the ’07 NHRA schedule with a 98-point leader over Larry Dixon, Fuller used a tune-up from crew chief Rob Flynn to blister the hot Bristol Dragway quarter mile in 4.595 seconds at 320.89 mph, placing the all-white dragster fourth in the Top Fuel order. Friday evening under the lights, the Las Vegas racer bettered his previous mark by clocking a run of 4.592 at 326.95 mph to remain in the No. 4 position. Only four cars ran in the 4.5-second range on Friday, including Fuller’s teammate, Whit Bazemore (4.547 seconds – No. 2).

“We had a good day today,” Fuller said. “We made two solid runs. We’re disappointed with that night run. We ran two 4.59s today, but were soft on horsepower on the second pass. We had a car that could qualify No. 1. We wanted to make sure we made the field. I don’t see too many cars running faster tomorrow. We want to make good runs in the heat and get ready for Sunday.”

Top Fuel qualifying resumes on Saturday afternoon with sessions scheduled for 1 and 3:30 p.m. (ET) at the Bristol facility. ESPN2 will televise two hours of qualifying highlights at 4 p.m. (ET) on Saturday afternoon.
