Rumor has it that a group in Northern California is going to bring The MOB altered back out with the Fiat body. The one with the giant spoiler on the back.

That's a bad ass car. I think they have been testing in Sacramento. I don't know who's driving. Rodney Flourney I hear is going to be there in George Doty's Godzilla along with Jeff Utterback in the Black Sunshine Fiat. The Sullivan's will be there too.

Been to a few 2 car Nitro Jam deals, 2 flops 2 alterds 2 Nitro Harley's to get a taste of it. Also was some Pro Mods and a couple passes by a NHRA type car a testing too.
Too bad the IHRA RACE series is too far away for me

The Texas Outlaw Fuel Altereds showed up here a few years ago and put on a good show. The only problem I had with them is that about 75% of the cars that showed up were running alcohol. They looked and sounded like someone had taken a current TAFC, pulled the body off, bolted on a rear wing and ran it. Easier on the engine, cheaper and all that, but if you're gonna run a fuel altered, put FUEL in it, by God. That means nitro.

" if you're gonna run a fuel altered, put FUEL in it, by God. That means nitro."

I agree. I wonder if any of these cars are going to be there? I'm sure some of them will be.

With regards to the Winged Express, that's Mike Boyd's deal and I understand that he's only interested in making exhibition passes a few times a year.

Now, Dave Mandella (who owns Shirley's RED and a few other cacklefest cars) is putting together a cacklefest Winged Express for Mousie. I've told him that when they're ready to start building, that I would volunteer to help. Last I heard from Dave @ the reunion was he was getting the last of the parts needed to complete. They may have already started, but can't say for certain.

As a kid, going to LACR and watching those Fuel Altered shows is what set the hook in me. Those die hard Fuel Altered guys kept the torch lit.

What's even crazier is that they would almost always drive it out the back door even though the lighting at the top end was sketchy at-best. I remember cars disappearing into the blackness and hoping they got it slowed down and stayed on the track.

That's our car, "Nightmare." We built a new chassis to follow along with some, "Classic Fuel Altered" guidelines. Jim Holtz (Nitro Bandit, LA Hauler, Out-A-Site) is driving for us.

120 inch chassis, with drop axle
1934 Ford Roadster body
500 ci Lincoln on fuel

It's a real AA/FA, we have a couple of Ford nitro combos we're working with. We're taking baby steps right now. We're entered in the March Meet.

Thanks for the interest.

Very cool Vince. Good luck with it! To me, AA/FA could be a very promotable, marketable class. But, I think there would need to be a formula that is stuck to. Meaning, Mike Boyd in the Winged Express can't really compete with the "classic" Nanook or Mike Sullivan cars, who in turn can't really compete with 125 in. transformers. 3 generations of Altereds, like the 3 bears, with the Classic style like yours being "just right". :D

You're right, there is a separation between the "Transformer" cars and the "Classic" cars. We built our car to fit the guidelines of the "Classic" style. But don't forget that Mike Sullivan's car went to the finals at the last March Meet with a very nostalgia car, short wheelbase, no top fuel style wing.

Thanks again for the complaints.

Dan Hix will be there to defend his March Meet title in his Heatseeker AA/FA. Keith Wilson in the Witch Doctor AA/FA will be there. Talking to Chris and Jeff Bennet at the hot rod reunion sounded like they will also be here in there Pure Heaven AA/FA. Vince good luck with your Ford take your baby steps and have fun that's what it's all about. Hix's has a Minor Bros motor in his AA/FA nothing wrong with trying something new. Steven Neece and Kevin Knowles might be bringing there AA/FA over from Phoenix, Hope they come, can't ask for two better guys to race with or against.

All of the above mentioned cars are badass. But again, quite a mix to compete headsup. Neece & Knowles I think have run low 5's a few years ago. I remember the Bennetts having a transformer that sometimes ran as a NFC, it seems like they now have a classic style car. I like 'em all.
