I have a 1998 date on the video name - as the original clips and mix down are long gone and I pulled this data from drive to drive over the decades.


Shorted brain cells are plentiful and I really can't recall with a lot of certainty of the month, Looking at screenshots of JPGs from footage, I am seeing 06-05-1998 and I am fairy sure I spent at least a few weeks editing this, so it could have been a Memorial Day gig or sooner?

It was from one of Jim Ledford's "The Legends Of Drag Racing" events when he was still alive and healthy.
The Blaine Johnson Memorial tower was built and dedicated around this time (1997 possibly) as this You Tube clip shows the track without the big beautiful tower in 1996.

I believe the track went through sanctioning body changes from IHRA to NHRA or visa-versa, because it was about 3 decades ago I wish I could recall EVERYTHING on demand...
There's footage of Pat Musi grenading the original Popeye in one of the mixes and we did have a few Popular Hot Rod, Hot Rod Etc mags with either Dawn or myself (fly on the wall) in their thumbnails, so if you collectors have them (we did this several years for MMM) - look for us! lol
