yup, mostly a **** show..Weird. Force rockets to 340 again, Erica's Camaro goes nuts at the hit AGAIN and I'm told they prepped the track with 5W40 synthetic before they ran the funny cars. Out of 16 qualifiers, 13 failed to cross the stripe at over 100mph.
Sad to see only 5 TAFCs competing....![]()
I agree with you. I think back to when Sonoma only had the one run on Friday at night and it was generally underwhelming and Friday night Q2 in Sonoma has generally been one of the quickest and fastest qualifying sessions the entire year. While last night was underwhelming outside of Brittany's 340 I did like the idea of the format. Hype it up, let the fans walk the track prior to the nitro session. Im wondering if next year they could give the fuel cars a run at say 3-4pm and then do all the pomp and circumstance prior to a 9pm session. In my opinion, having the nitro cars hit the track withont any prior passes to put down at least one pass of rubber on the track is EXACTLY the problem for many of the crew chiefs.
Having to determine what the track would take going down the track with no prior passes, is a limited skill set.
Obviously, Aussie Dave and Johnson are two of the few with that skill.
Today isn't off to a great start, not one TF car has been down the track with 2 pair to go.such a beautiful track. night air. cool temps. cool track. lots of aborted runs. disappointing.
so far this year i think you'd have to give the nod to epping for best performance numbers.
we'll see what happens today and next weekend in sonoma.
Great conditions all day long; low to mid 70s temp, track around 115, DA between 1000 and 2000 feet. There should have been 3 or 4 mid .60 passes. Brittany ran 336 but they had to soften up the tune considerably (ET was 3.72) in the front half to do it. Grubnic's pretty good at that. I only saw 10 TF cars running and that's a shame.Track can't be that bad, Doug just ran a 3.69.
No Steve Johnson in PSB. That was surprising. I think it’s been a year since a none V&H or MSR bike has won an event. It’s rare they even get into a semi final.Great conditions all day long; low to mid 70s temp, track around 115, DA between 1000 and 2000 feet. There should have been 3 or 4 mid .60 passes. There were a few decent FC passes today but not what you'd expect. Hagen/Prock in the last pass of the day was a good one. 3.88/3.87
Looks like Dallas Glenn and Greg Anderson are so far ahead of the rest of the field it's almost laughable.
Only 8 PS motorcycles? Guess they decided it was a long ways to haul for not a lot of gain. Q3 produced 6 out of 8 200+ passes so you know the air was good.
not sure if i would say Laughable, yes they are clearly at the head of the class. Both are only an 'average' reaction time away from losing to any of the other cars. When Warren Johnson and Bob Glidden were at the top of their game, years ago, they cleared the field by nearly a tenth of a sec. Now that was laughable. . . . Yeah, maybe so. Still, other than Stanfield I think Glenn and Anderson are, what, .05-.06 or so ahead? That's pretty significant. Better look around for that nitrous bottle.not sure if i would say Laughable, yes they are clearly at the head of the class. Indeed. Enders got hers running 6.48 but snoozed at the tree. AGAIN. Guess a lot of them figured out the track and the stellar conditions. And Anderson lost a bit of his mid-6.40 performance which cost him in E1. Poor Cody Coughlin cuts a 30-something light, decent enough, along with a 6.45 and gets sent home.Carl, a lot of the PS cars are in the 40's today
