s. massey's record of 30+ runs without smoking tires is remarkable.
great performance even if runner up yesterday.

sure wish there were more 1st round upsets in all the pro classes, but
then again i've wished that for 20+ years and it's all about the same
now as then.

wow. woops......thanks sam - what a knucklehead i am.
too many brain cells on the mend today i guess.

I'm risking getting flamed over this comment, but one can't help but notice how well that team/car are running with a different driver. I like CoryMac, but the young gun sure can drive. I think I saw a graphic yesterday with his "leaves first" at something like 81%. Wow...

Hiring Spencer was one of the best decisions by the Don in a while IMO.

He's a good driver. He did well driving for Mitch King last year, too.

yea, cory is one of the best hands down...but spencer is one of the better. All spencer has is the R/T i doubt he drives better than mac..but whatever if Spencer brought a pile of cash to Don to take the seat from mac....his R/T alone makes the decision look good. No argument on if cory mac or spencer drives better...there equal. Everything is the same but Spencer's quick eye.

I keep hearing about Spencer bringing money to the table. Are you speaking of something you know or repeating something you heard from someone who heard something.......

Last I heard, it's simply because Fram wanted a younger driver. That's it. Unless we know for sure, I don't think anyone should be calling Spencer a ride stealer.

there are many many sources that say Spencer brought cash to Don and got the seat, It's a very common rumor, overwhelmingly so, but will we ever know? Only Don and Spencer will. I don't exactly buy that fram wanted a younger driver, the truth is that Cory Mac and his age is probably more on target to the DIY car guys than with Spencer. I would say there is a much bigger group in cory's age range the DIY car care than in Spencers.

Dsr stated on tv, and also I believe in a Comp+ article, that the decision to dump Cory was his and his alone, not Fram's.

right and that point you made means nothing. I agree with you that fram had nothing to do with it and that it was Don's decision. My point is, was the opinion fueled with a stack of cash from Spencer or not? All I am saying is that that rumor will never be cleared up.

So what you are saying is that you in fact know nothing but rumors you have heard. You say only Don and Spencer will ever know for sure but you do not believe Don when he states his position. Anything Spencer would say probably would not hold water either. For a minute there I thought we had something.........;)

on comp plus today del w. talks about the fierce competition among 6-7
TF'rs this year; where the 'fast' guys have in years past only been 2-4 cars.
DSR & AJR have definitely been the class of field so far this year; hoping
bernstein's momentum propels him to a win soon; same with kalitta camp;
and would really like to see vandergriff/fuller tandem do some damage,
honestly though, do not get tired of watching del, antron and spencer win.

I don't know about money unless one of his mentors had it but he sure brought a fist full of ability with him !
I like Cory a lot and I hope he gets a ride soon but Cory is no stranger to losing rides !
The loss of Fram is no doubt going to be a different deal .
As sad a state that business is in I'm just glad the team and equiptment is still racing and not side lined like so many others.
There are several start up teams in the wings so I'm optimistic !

Mel I don't know if I believe the rumor or not and i never said Don's a liar...all I am saying is what I did in my prior posts. The money rumor holds alot of water and could be true, then again Shoe made of made the management choice. What do I think? Now that I am being held to my opinion here's my 2 takes.

1. Spencer saved all his championship money and other money and gave it to Don to let him cure his itch for wanting to drive again.

2. Don let go of Cory because Spencer was and is a better organization decision where you could have a team as strong as ever and now add a driver that can get the car wins, when he could never say that before.

There is a far bigger percentage of people that believe the hype with Spencer and a bunch of green, then there is the truth. The rumor in anything always lives longer than the truth. I personally am 50/50 believing in 1 and 2, but it could all be number 2 that is true. Long story short:

Organizationally Spencer was the right call for Don to make performance wise. Marketability wise I think Cory was better for the product as the do it yourself car guys are primarily going to be around Cory's age. The rumor that fram had anything to do with it saying they want a younger driver? I don't believe that for a second.

If you want to know the truth on why there was a driver change, listen to the crew chiefs in their interviews. And this change was decided upon early last year.

There is so much that goes on behind the scenes that creates the reasons for personnel changes, whether they are drivers, crew chiefs or crew personnel. And most of this stuff is not going to be aired publically.

hmmmmmmmm..... Where oh where could I find a crewchief that might know about this issue????? I will have to give this some thought. :D
