i was heartbroken when Trish Stratus retired (now she was a fox!!!)....that completely ended my wrestling days....i was hanging on by a thread and that ended it for me :(

But they do seem to be bringing back some oldies (mostly on the ECW broadcast..(ahem--or so I've heard--don't want to give anyone the idea that I watch more than one night a week, y'know) like hacksaw Jim Duggan and Mick Foley still stops in from time to time to stir up things. I keep wondering if The Rock will be back if his movie career goes flat...One never knows....Hornswoggle...who woulda thunkit....Go Huskers....rambling a bit today aren't I. Did I mention that ECW is on tonight????? and TNA is on Thursday and Smackdown is on Friday, or, or so I hear.....

Hey Terry, speaking on ECW, I went to high school with an old ECW guy...Tough Tony DeVito, of The Baldies! Remember them? Also, My fav wrestler of all time, hands down, was Goldberg!

The real son will be revealed to be Mr. Kennedy when he returns. Hornswoggle will just be a prank pulled by HHH, leading to a Kennedy vs. HHH feud.

That's my guess, anyway. In the mean time we can be amused by Hornswoggle humping Vince's leg.

Yes, I actually spend time thinking about wrestling. Sad, I know.

Wrestling maybe ain't what it used to be (what is?) but I still like watching it. Orton vs. Cena is a great feud (props to Cena's dad for getting his face kicked in by Orton. That must've stung a little) and new guys like Elijah Burke and MVP really entertain me. MVP vs. Hardy is another great feud.

PS. PJ, Eugene was released a few weeks ago.

he was?!?!?!?! I just saw him on raw a few weeks ago. I must admit I was very nervous and pissed when they first came out with his character. I'm a coach with special olympics so I'm a bit sensitive to it any ridicule to that population of people. But I liked his character and the people I coach really like him. It's a shame to see him go.

I bet that he will be back but as a new character

Hey, PJ, keep an eye on TNA on thursday nights for Eugene--an awful lot of "superstars" let go from the WWE empire seem to migrate to TNA--Kurt Angle and Christian (now Christian Cage, the instant classic) to name a few....or, or so I hear.....

I honestly do not understand how anyone could watch much less enjoy WWE wrestling. Even so, I know it's still very popular - and not just with teenagers. For instance I work with a couple of middle-aged guys who are BIG fans of the WWE.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Besides, I suppose I have no room to talk since I'm big fan of NHL hockey. While I would argue that the NHL and WWE have nothing in common, many of the football fans I know don't understand how could prefer NHL hockey to the NFL. I guess the same thing can be said for me and the WWE.

Rich, I certainly understand your point of view, since I was horrified myself as I began to realize that I got a kick out of watching. I guess my only defense is that they make no bones about it not being a sport and always refer to it as sports entertainment. AND, since I don't watch soap operas, I now know how people can get totally hooked on those story lines also. One more thing that I kinda like about it--the outcomes are all scripted, but some of the hits and such are real. Some of those wrestlers are really good athletes. Overall, I gotta say it's just an indefensible guilty pleasure for me!

Terry, I know what you mean. :)

My sister and her husband used to be big fans of General Hospital and I used to tease them about it. Then, years ago, I took some classes at college and would get home each day about the time General Hospital came on. As I did my homework the program could be heard in the background, and of course I couldn't help but listen. Is wasn't long after that that I was watching. Then it became I had to make sure I got home in time to watch. Pretty soon I was hooked. It wasn't until Luke and Laura actually got back together that I was able to swear off my habit and break the addiction.

:D

We all have our guilty pleasures. And your right, I see no way how you could prefer the NHL to the NFL. To me, I only know one thing about the NHL. Whoever wins the Stanley Cup at the end of the year b/c I read it in the paper or saw it on ESPN to wear as the NFL I watch every game I can, get way too involved in the fantasy aspect of it, and hate to the see the playoffs end.

Oh, and I have to admit this too I guess. My wife is a huge General Hospital person. Myself, I have never even given soaps an extra thought and never understood people's obession with them. Well my wfie tapes it every day and watches it at night and for about a week while I played poker online I sat with her while she watched it. Hook, line, and sinker, they got me too. For about a year but not anymore. She still does it faithfully but I try not to go in there afraid of getting hooked again if i watch it.

General Hospital ah yes

I fell off the habit train years ago on this one. But I was a devout adict for years. My mom watched in so it was on when we got home from school or during the summers. In college I really got to watching it and would even tape it everyday so that I wouldn't miss it. When my oldest daughter turned 2ish I quit watching as I didn't want to be watching the show with her in the room. Soaps just aren't for kiddies. So its been about 4 1/2 years but I bet if I flipped it back on that a) I'd get hooked pretty quickly and b) it wouldn't take more then a few episodes to get caught up on the time I've been away.

Now as for hockey, I love it. Detroiter here, Hockeytown USA GO WINGS!!!!!

Lately I've taken the "who gives a mutherfunk" approach with my wrestling fandom. It's scripted. It's "fake". Yeah, OK we get it. It's entertainment, just like 24 or Lost or whatever other shows people talk about every day. No longer shall I be ashamed to be a wrestling fan.

I say we start a Wrestling Fans Rights march and come out of the closet

"We're here, we're queer.." well it might need a bit of work :p

Ummmmmmm............Ashley, yes the slogan needs a bit o' work!!! :D
