i keep feeling like the guy on charlie brown that tries to kick the football and lucy pulls it out from under him EVERYTIME...when will i learn?

ESPN and NHRA can kiss my ass, I'm not going to watch their sh!t at all now. I think I might not watch the rest of the season either. I'm so tired of this BS.

I was planning on DVR'ing the race all along. I am watching the Yankees/Red Sox now and I will be tuning in to Entourage in 10 minutes. If I can't be in bed by 11pm after watching the race I will DVR the race and watch it the next day. Now, will 2 hours past the scheduled end time be long enough?

Me too. Has ESPN ever budgeted enough time for a live event before drag racing? I usually like their broadcast and I can take a five or ten minute delay here or there, but this is starting to seem like a deliberate kick in the face. I guess the US Nationals will be delayed because girls' middle school junior varsity tiddlywinks runs late...

We are in a sad state of programming now. This beginning to be a joke. If I had a big sponsor stake on a pro car I would be pissed off. Sorry sorry sorry programming.

now there gonna tie it up again..... we might start by 1130..... i feel like im waiting to watch the speeling bee ...oh wait they get a prime time slot

That game was WAY more exciting than any 1000' race!! The LLWS is 100x bigger than NHRA. Time to face reality.

you'd think after all these years ESPN would have freakin' clue how long a live sporting event takes...

is there anybody that thinks you can get a Little League baseball game played in only two hours??? its the same thing over and over again...they seem to underestimate by 30 minutes to an hour virtually every live event that plays before an NHRA broadcast...

at least it doesn't surprise me anymore

After always posting on here that people shouldn't whine, they should just program their VCRs and DVRs to tape at least an hour longer than the scheduled program length, what do I do? I FORGOT to record for the hour after the scheduled program ... so I settle in to watch the racin' action just in time for my DVR to shut off during the Funny Car semis. D'OH!!!

Now, there is NO WAY to budget time for a live sporting event. ESPN has been doing this a long time, so they take all the games of a particular sport and average them out. Baseball games can have lots of runs scored or extra innings. Basketball games can have lots of fouls and timeouts or go to OT. Sh!t is just going to happen. The NHRA is an afterthought to ESPN/2 because whatever sport is running over into our TV time gets WAY better ratings than we do. Sunday prime time is valuable sports real estate. What is ESPN supposed to do, switch over to NHRA without showing the previous event to completion? HA! Remember the "Heidi Game"?

The solution is not to whine about ESPN, the solution it to encourage the NHRA to get a different TV partner that values the $8 million paid to them annually and provides a rock-solid time slot.

i wonder if Mark Cuban likes drag racing? That would be great to get NHRA broadcast on one of his channels :)

Of course it is, which is why I've suggested Speed several times. And then I get attacked here and told I'm an idiot...

Take it in stride fellas and ladies.

There's someguy with a bottle of brandy, playing solitare at 1AM saying:

"What's this NASCAR? doing on so late, DAMN, where's the World Series of Poker."

:)
