There was a bit of a rain delay. But the first round of FC just wrapped up.
I’ve missed the thunder of nitro racing since 2023.
TF is up now.
Edit: I’ve seen a lot of people in their late teens and early 20s in attendance. Maybe there is hope for drag racing’s long term future after all.

I am sorry to repeat my self but someone is going to get hurt, mark my words. I have said the crew members playing the game of dodging cars on the burn out is BS. Now Q1 the top fuel car driven by Rit Pustari had a crew member adjusting the wheelie bar with the car totally staged and he left the line with the crew member still adjusting it. As Larry Morgan has said you "Cant fix stupid" lucky for that guy he didn't stay hooked with the car.
Larry Sutton---🤠

Thanks for the update. Keep us informed about qualifying.

Wow that is crazy. Who’s car is Rit driving?

Epping is a pretty neat track. I liked how the stands, compared to other national event tracks, are a bit closer to the racing.
Earlier today, with the rain, getting the second session in was questionable.
Thankfully, the rain moved out quickly, allowing the Safety Safari to do its always great job of prepping the track.
I can’t wait for Sunday’s eliminations.

When did not touching the car after the burnout become the safe thing to do ?

I saw that, it was super close to being a horrific incident. You need a massive amount of situational awareness to be on the starting line when cars are running.

It seems like there is always weather issue during this event. I feel sorry for the fans that pack the place.
Actually, the only schedule changes due to weather has been 2023, with both qualifying days affected by weather and eliminations moved to Bristol, and 2016 when eliminations took place on Monday. other than that, even has concluded on Sunday 2013-2015, 2017-2019, 2021-2022, and 2024.

About noon, local time, they started track drying with TF scheduled at 1pm EDT.

eric merryfield has his inline 6 gremlin on pole in stock after Q1.
i love the retro feel that this national event has. hard to believe it's been around for 12 years now.
looks like weather may be a factor this weekend.
Longer than 12 years, IHRA had National Events there.
