Dunn's driver pick for #1 current ?

I am sure he is going to select Jeggy....but for my money, i'd select another current driver in the Pro Stock Ranks who has proven on SEVERAL occasions how good of a driver he is....

Johnny Gray....

Think about this for a second. Who else in NHRA TODAY has driven SUCCESSFULLY IN:

- GAS DRAGSTERS & DOOR CARS
- TOP ALCOHOL DRAGSTERS
- TOP ALCOHOL FUNNY CARS
- FUEL FUNNY CARS
- PRO STOCK CARS

If you're talking POUND FOR POUND....best "DRIVER" out there.... I'd place some money on the good ol guy from Artesia, NM...

Ken, I don't know that the list is posted anywhere. I just remember the TV shows the last few races when Mike announced his picks. Sunday should be his top 1 in current & past driver catagories.

Good call on Uncle Frankie!!! That makes it a tough call between him & Jeggie.
I think I'd still go w/Jeg tho.

Wayne :)

Still thinks LD should be higher than 5th!!!

Gray is obviously the most diverse...yet the win totals aren't that high.

Jeg is just bad ass..

I think its safe bet Jeg is #1, the guys pretty tough in any category. Doesn't always have the fastest car but still is feared when pulling up to the line.

You guys are all wet.....
It's gonna be the old guy from Sefner, Florida

okay, The Rat is driving a stock nowadays, so that does make him a 'current' driver, but that would totally screw up Dunn's whole list of 'past' drivers.

In fact, that would screw up both of Dunn's lists.

it's Whit

I know bicycle riders are a close-knit bunch but something tells me Dunn will pass Bazemore over. Baze could handle a fuel car, alright, but voting for him is a bit like voting Mike Tyson as the best boxer of all time. He might be, but man, you'd sure have to grit your teeth as you cast that vote.

Which Part of "CURRENT" is hard to understand? Whit hasn't been in a car in a couple of years, heck, I think Dunn's has been in a car since then...

Nothing hard about it; someone mentioned Whit and I replied in kind. Technically, I should have said "It can't be Whit; he's not a current driver"...but I ain't too technical.

Dunn's been in a car, but not in competition. He keeps his T/F license current, which requires making a pass (once a year?), and made one aborted launch in Jeg Coughlin's car. Far as I know, that's it.

OK... I unintentionally overlooked the "CURRENT" part..
To me when you mention T/F and the greatest drivers in one sentence...
One name comes to mind..

Personally, There was this Flopper driver back in the early 70's, think he even ran some in the early 80's, Denny Something... Drove some hitter cars, even one of my Favs outta Chi-town....:D

Think if Dunn had done a top ten, all time instead of just a Top Five, Denny might have made that list...

Yeah, there are Two Lists, "Inactive" & "Current"

Don't know about that, but I have known Mike Dunn since he was about 15 years old, riding his bicycle around the pits everywhere, hangin out with the Funny Car guys.. Makes me feel really old..
If I ever became a fuel car owner [maybe via the Lottery], and needed to hire a driver, it would be Mike... I've watched him through the years of his driving career, and the man can flat drive... Plus, he can work on the car, and always pretty much did. Something you don't see nowadays.. I had too, my whole career, mostly out of necessity, and even today I wouldn't have it any other way. I made some of my best runs, dripping with sweat, almost black with clutch dust, and bleeding from scratches or cuts...
When we put Eric Medlen and Robert Hight through the AF/C class at Hawleys, we practically had to lock them in the classroom with Frank, because they wanted to help service the car between runs... That's where they both came from, originally.... Great students too, I might add, along with Ashley..
Whoever Mike picks, I'm sure I'll agree. I just spent a lot of time, at the same races with "Big", and got to experience first hand, his capabilitys, both driving, tuning, and building his own cars, and making them work..
Sorry for the rant..
Denny

Not shocking at all, Jeg was #1. As for the past driver, my money is on Pat Austin.
