Duane Shields Competes at Seattle Regional Event (1 Viewer)

Duane Shields returned to Pacific Raceways near Seattle this past weekend for the NHRA Regional Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event presented Les Schwab Tires. Duane was searching for more success after a solid semifinal finish at the NHRA O'Reilly Northwest Nationals just two weeks ago.

Duane qualified fifth at the regional event with a stout 5.37 at 260 MPH and would face Northwest competitor Ray Martin driving a blown alcohol powered dragster. Both cars left almost together with Martin having a slight edge. Unfortunately for Duane, his PEAK sponsored A/Fuel dragster slowed down by more than a tenth off his best qualifying time, and was unable to catch Martin in what would turn out to be a competitive side by side race. Martin posted a 5.37 at 267 MPH to top Duane's valiant 5.53 at 257 MPH run to advance to the second round.

Duane now returns to Indianapolis where he is the defending US Nationals Champion. Duane would like to thank his sponsors PEAK Motor Oil, PEAK Antifreeze, Herculiner Truck Bed Liners, Blue DEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid and FINAL Charge Heavy Duty Truck Antifreeze, GRP Connecting Rods, NGK Spark Plugs, Molinari Race Products and Shortline Markets for their support.
