Although the burnouts alone are on a whole nother level as far as sound when compared to a stock car, an actual track grabbing launch is on a whole nother level, even when compared to the burnout.
I know it might be counter-productive in how long you could hold the throttle down (0-100 in less then a second), but does anyone know if they could back the thing down enough and get the tire to stick to a totally un-prepared section of pit road in order to get a full throttle run in.. even if just for a second or two?
Or is it just too dangerous? I see Pit road is lined with permanent J barrier, similar to a drag strip.. minus the giant grass buffer zone, but if speeds are kept under 200, is it still too dangerous?
I realize they did the burnout in the pool of water to minimize traction and maximize the burnout length
I love that they did this promotion. Call me crazy, but I always imagine what it would be like hearing a top fuel car on jack stands doing the throttle blips in odd or unusual places... like in the middle of a mall... or in the parking lot at my work, or in the center of town as I sit in my back yard a mile or two away.
All my life, I've only heard that sound at the drag strip, and I've always been in the stands watching. A couple times I've been in the stands watching sportsman, and you'll hear that thunderous roar as they blip the throttle, and it can be heard above all the noise going on at the starting line during the sportsman classes.
Only once I've heard a fuel run outside the drag strip, one year when I left a couple pairs early. They say you can hear them from 10 miles away.. I wonder if that's true?
