Dream track?

WES , some great ideas there, but please explain the "track temperature control". in detail.

Yes...full temperature control from burnout to finish line. Just for kicks I'd also make it freezable (ice plant from a hockey rink) to have outdoor ice skating in the winter...another form of revenue. Could even have outdoor hockey, ice shows, etc. Track would need to be wider for the first 300' to allow for a full-size, North American rink, though.

Wes, I love it, temp control to the finish stripe. Now one of us just needs to hit the LOTTO

That's it the Ice Cream Wars . I'm hearing Bass money going into getting Blue Bell going again . Seems like rich Ft Worth people miss their Blue Bell .

Love the Wells Family. Miss them and think about them every time I see Blue Bunny in the stores. Let's compromise...Blue Bell on one side, Wells on the other!

Sounds like a deal. BTW, like the idea of the temperature controlled track and using the track for outdoor ice in the winter.

Honestly, put Maple Grove 15 minutes away from my house and I've got the perfect track. I love that track. Maybe make the shut down a little longer. I had to get on the brakes pretty good in a super comp dragster. I can't imagine what it's like in a fueler.

Just one feature, put the fences 8' behind the retaining wall till about half track (Just like I remember Norwalk in the mid 90s). Dangerous? Sure, but notice I said retaining wall, not guard rail... as it was in Norwalk back in the day. It completely safe!

I don't know about hockey, but I can tell you there a few thousand snowmobile ice drag racers that would LOVE an 1/8 mile facility at a major drag track!

The old NHRA computer game of the late 90's had a enclosed drag dome. It'll never happen for many reasons, but it would be cool to see.

My list for a dream track:

All concrete down the track.

A cooling system like Bandimere has.

Bathrooms that are actually clean.

Seats with a back to them.

Speaking of seats, nice big bleachers that have an awning for the top rows that are close but no so close to cause insurance problems.

Foot that you actually want to eat.

Management that actually knows how to run and promote not only a national event, but special exhibition shows throughout the year.

I'd sit on a rock on the side of the track if I was watching 32 car fields!!! It's about the RACING for me.

Question is WHY Limit it to the NHRA???????? Why NOT have a mutli use organization. Run Nostalgia events, IF people want it Big Show, PDRA Get in a Fuel Altered show several times a year,, Run a Pro Mod VS AA/FA event????
GEEZ NOT everyone CAN or WANTS to go to a HIGH DOLLAR NHRA event.
All the above stated about facilities is good BUT remeber there are HANDICAPPED individuals whom LOVE to watch the Drags and go to the events! They get pushed to crappy places to watch and well it sucks(i know i took my nephew in a wheelchair to Topeka) so many changes and areas for them!
My local track does the MAjoy WARM day specialty events, also a few otehr events for brackets and all the lil guys that make the sport possible!
Bring in the Nitro HArleys, Top Fuel bikes, maybe a jet and also WHEELSTANDERS! Crowsds LOVE a good wheelstander show!
Just a few iseas AFTER a track is built to KEEP INTEREST in it!

I really think Z-max in Charlotte has all the amenities any modern drag strip could ask for. It's very well laid out, and has all the bells and whistles I'd personally want at a drag racing facility. It would be very cool if they could have all four lanes race-prepped, so during oildowns and clean up the show can continue without interruption. I'd sure rather see that, than 4-wide racing!

My all-time favorite track for sentimental reasons is US-131 Raceway Park in Martin, MI. This is also a very nice track, if not "NHRA national event" quality. It's by far the nicest drag strip in Michigan, and in terms of layout and cleanliness, what Milan should aspire to be. Needless to say, it's a damn shame there isn't an NHRA National Event in the Great Lake State.

Finally, no matter how nice the "dream track" would be, it needs a camping and party area like The Zoo at Brainerd!

Yes, YES, and more YES. some great ideas Clipper. A race track should NOT be limited to just one org.

Clipper, I naturally assumed that by building it to the caliber of an NHRA national level track that you automatically would include the lower level organizations (PDRA/NMRA/NMCA/Manufacturers Cup,etc...). I completely agree with you on the handicap accessibility. I have wheeled around Heartland Park myself, not the easiest place to maneuver (especially if you're a top alcohol fan) and the designated areas suck for viewing. That is at the top of my list if the stars align. As far as events I would definitely take a page out of the Bader's playbook and come up with something like Night Under Fire.
