Teens May Have Drunk Fatal Mixture of Racing Fuel, Mountain Dew

http://www.kwwl.com/story/31076409/...unk-fatal-mixture-of-racing-fuel-mountain-dew

This is from my local news station but the same story is being shared by numerous outlets across the country.

"Racing fuel, used for drag racing, can be easily purchased online and at some convenience stores."

Hey Brent, that is the most misleading title I've ever read on this site. It is a sad situation for the boys and their families for sure. These teen's were just teenagers being creative in their quest to catch a buzz. I don't see where the NHRA, IHRA, NMCA etc has any responsibility over the sale of methanol to the public. This is like saying that people who have heart attacks due to drinking "Jegarbombs" should blame Red Bull. The writer of the article wrote or implied nothing negative towards the sport of Drag Racing. Possibly your title should have been "Does the sale of Methanol to minors need to be controlled under law?".

I'm going to call it as.
The writer of the article is as dumb as the kids the article is about.

I think it is a very sad day for the kids and their families to have to deal with.
Kids have tried crazy things for years but this is the first time I ever heard of drinking this type of mix.

I do not see how this would hurt drag racing.

Methanol has always been labeled as "cannot be made unpoisonous" as on cans of de-icer......really takes a pinhead to drink that stuff

Maybe they used ethanol? That's available from gas stations in the middle of the States.

I have a bottle of Dewshine....maybe I should pour it in my car's tank?

Nunzio, the answer is yes, it's fairly rare but there are a number of places that have it (and sometimes a pretty good selection of 5 gallon pails inside).
