[coverattach=1](3-25-2009) BAYTOWN, Texas – Veteran Pro Modified driver Danny Rowe entered into the 2009 season with “All Business” being the mantra of his Laguna Hills, California based Pro Modified program, and despite qualifying No. 2 in a stacked field of supercharged, turbocharged and nitrous-assisted hot rods, fought traction issues in the opening round of eliminations. This weekend in Houston, though, it’s time for a rebound for Danny Rowe; time to get back to business as usual.
Driving the Hottinger Group/Sterling Bridge ’67 Chevy Camaro Pro Mod, Rowe will look to improve upon his current 9th place position in the Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Challenge point standings, and knows a win in Houston will move him toward the top of the standings quicker than anything.
The 47-year-old businessman from California is prepared to go the distance, but appreciates the battle that lies ahead at the O’Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals this weekend.
“Confidence has never been a problem with this team, we all know what we’re capable of, but we also know how quickly these Pro Modified cars can bite us,” said Rowe, who receives additional support from Friction Unlimited. “You can’t take anything for granted in heads up drag racing, we’ve seen it time and time again – the fastest car doesn’t always win and rarely do things go as planned.
“However, our goal for this season remains the same; we want to win the Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Challenge championship. We’re all very excited to be competing here in the NHRA and I can’t say enough about the program that has been put together for 2009 and beyond. We’re going to take it one race at a time, keep plugging away and we’ll put this Hottinger Group/Sterling Bridge Camaro in the winner’s circle one way or another.”
SCHEDULE:
FRIDAY, March 27 - PROFESSIONAL QUALIFYING SESSIONS at 1:30 & 5 p.m. SATURDAY, March 28 - PROFESSIONAL QUALIFYING SESSIONS at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. SUNDAY, March 29 - Pre-race ceremonies, 10 a.m. FINAL ELIMINATIONS begin at 11 a.m.
