OK guys and gals, help me understand this. They, the NHRA, are trying to slow the fuel cars down, correct. Now wouldn't changing the gearing in the rear ends of these monsters slow these cars down? If you were to put a lower gear ratio in them, like maybe a 238 Vs a 411, wouldn't that lower gearing put more drag on the motor, making it slower off the line and causing the RPMs of the motor to rise slower, so by the time the car got to the finish line the RPMs would still be down, since there is more drag on the motor do to the lower gearing?? Or am I way off on this???![]()
Hey Jerry, Nitro motors like a lot of load; dont they? A TF car doesn't need all of that wing to keep the car on the ground, right? Isnt the purpose of those big triple element wings for the added load on the motor? A/Fuel and Alky dragsters being an example of two cars running simular ET's and simular speeds with th Alky guys running a smaller single element wing. if that is correct, then would the above have the opisite affect then what Richard is suggesting?
Richard, I'm totally not flaming you, just asking a guy who'd know based on what I thought at one time to be true. the question is for both of us.

BTW Jerry, it was good seeing you again out at Stanke's shop a few weeks back.
***EDIT*** Sorry, I guess I should read the whole thread before posting. Thanls for answering the question I hadn't asked yet Jerry! HAHA!!!
